Here we are Christmas again.
Why do they call it merry when it is really a pain.
Far too many think its a time to spend, spend , spend.
Far too many lenders willing to Lend, Lend, Lend.
Hence many people get into debt.
After Christmas they start to fret.

This time, Really meant for Children becomes a mess.
Because so many are abused I guess.
Domestic Violence hits a peak.
Tempers flare during Christmas week.
Burglaries, and muggings they become pandemic.
When criminals target the elderly and those that are sick.

There are many Children beaten at Christmas Time.
Waking far too early is their only crime.
Dad is still drunk, Mums nursing her bruises.
They have hangovers from the night visiting boozers.
Don't make a noise, Do not make a sound.
Till Mum and Dad has another drink to bring them round.

The kids went out "Carol Singing " the night before.
If that what they call it, They just bang on your door.
They rant and they shout and beg for cash.
Give us what we want or your windows we'll smash.
Many elderly and lonely people sit in fear.
They really dread his time of year.

You see ! Christmas is not what it used to be.
Love thy neighbours and invite them for tea.
Smile at everyone and say " Merry Christmas " to all.
A time for children, A time for Love, A time when Jesus was born.
It has become a time to get drunk, and get into debt.
What Christmas really stands for, We all tend to forget.

This is why I am now a Scrooge, Commerce has robbed us of our Christmas. It has now become a commercial venture a race by shops and companies to get our money and to get us into debt. An excuse for a booze up. An excuse for a fight. Yet the brave Nurses, And Doctors soldier on repairing the damage. We never get it right at this time of year do we ?????
