Solidarity with the Harmondsworth detainees! Demonstrate at Communications House

London Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism, supported by Africans Getting Involved. | 30.11.2006 10:26 | Anti-racism | Migration | Repression | London

The brave actions of the detainees at Harmondsworth Immigration Detention Centre, have publicised the disgusting conditions and treatment they face far wider than could ever have been achieved simply by the publication of the Chief Inspector of Prisons’ report criticising the immigration prison.

London FRFI is therefore dedicating its monthly demonstration at Communications House immigration reporting centre to highlighting their struggle.

Immigration reporting centres are places of fear for asylum seekers, who have to sign on there to receive meagre state benefits. They are not allowed to work.. From the reporting centre asylum seekers are often detained without warning and sent to removal centres, such as Harmondsworth, to await deportation.

Protest at UK Immigration Service, Communications House, 210 Old Street, London, EC1V 9BR (nearest tube – Old Street) 5 December 1-2pm

Well done everybody who is trying to shine some light on the conditions at Harmonsworth. Once the wider public gets to know the facts we will have a mass public outcry and all those being held will be deported that much quicker.
