Join the UAF Blackpool protest against the BNP conference
Lancaster UAF | 23.11.2006 13:15 | Anti-racism | Repression | Social Struggles | Liverpool
North West Region UAF together with Blackpool Fylde and Wyre TUC have called a demonstration against the British National Party holding a Conference in Blackpool. UAF is supporting this call for a protest and are asking all members and supporters in the North, North West and Yorkshire Areas to mobilise and attend this protest.
The fascist BNP has announced that they are planning a conference on the weekend of 25 and 26 November in Blackpool. The BNP has not announced the venue and local people including the Leader of the council, hotels, trade unions, NUS and students and anti-fascist groups have condemned the BNP for attempting to hold their conference in Blackpool.
We must show that there is large united opposition to the BNP and ensure that Blackpool is Fascist free zone. Following the recent court trial in Leeds we must show our opposition to the BNP and their politics of race hate and division. There will be a rally with speakers held followed by mass leafleting of the shopping centre.

Maybe the SWP need a re-think.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking, I've been reading "smash the Fash" all day on these rallying blogs and I was only looking out of curiosity!
I looked at the BNP site which i have to say looks pretty mainstream to me, its mostly families and middle aged people, hardly the boot boys promised. All they say thats the least bit controversial is that Islam is a danger to the West and Europe. Thats a no brainer really in light of bombings, cartoon protests, death threats and the stories trickling out of Europe, especially France.
I always do what bullies order me not to do so I think they have a new supporter now.

The BNP do use violence, and threaten people with rape.
We all remember who Mark Collett once threatened a member of Calderdale council with rape.
Most people know what the BNP are like. They are thugs in smart outfits, but, as the Guardian article proved, they are capable and willing to stage a nazi coup, if they got the slightest opportunity.
