Public Meeting for the Leeds Save Primary Care Campaign
Thursday 23rd November 7.30pm
The Common Place
23-25 Wharf Street

The current consultation by Leeds PCT over the future of four GP practices brings into the heat of the city’s health care services the threat of privatisation. Leeds Save Primary Group has been set up to monitor the consultation exercise and argue for a continued commitment to a publicly owned, funded and controlled National Health Service. A coalition of health professionals and community activists Leeds SPG has been attending and petitioning many of the consultation meetings held to date.

Next Thursday 23rd November we will be holding a public meeting to discuss local and national initiatives and how we can take the local campaign forward.
To date the official consultation process has attracted very few people to its public events. This is cause for concern. The recent Appeal Court ruling on the case of North Derbyshire PCT and its failure to consult properly when awarding a contract to multinational United Healthcare has demonstrated the need for full and thorough consultation. Representatives of the campaign will be available to explain our concerns and the evidence we have gathered.

This is an important campaign to hold back the forces of the market from rampaging through our Health Service. Get in touch by contacting the campaign on the following address  saveprimarycare@yahoogroups.com.
