Who Buried The Liverpool River

In the 1930's the new housing estates around Norris Green and Walton were being constructed.

One particular estate near to the new Asda Walton was adjacent to the now named Caspian Road.An oddly shaped S bend .Local's who bought houses there complain the ground never drys out.Even in the dryest of summers any lowering of the ground level left by the builders results in puddles.Fortunetly there are two residents of this new estate who lived there when they were children nearly 70 years ago.And both of them, independently said when they were little girls they used to have picnics on the field by the river. What river? There was a river there. But not now.One ,who at the age of 14 remembered "mechanical shovals"filling the river in.
Last time i remember a river being blocked we had Aberfan.Though i do not suggest that here. The point is rivers and water have a tendency to find there own way.If this was done then in ignorence in a geological area of clay what is the future of property there?
