JJB Support Picket - Manchester 11th November

Saturday 11th November: No-Sweat and the GMB Union have called a series of solidarity pickets around the country in support of striking workers at the JJB warehouse in Wigan. The company has allegedly been using recruitment agency temps to break the strike (which is illegal).

Various groups will be organising a solidarity picket outside JJB's stores on Market Street, Manchester at 11am tomorrow.

This action is part of 10 pickets mounted around the country in support of warehouse workers in dispute with the company. Dave Whelan, the multi-millionaire owner of Wigan Athletic FC and the boss of JJB is alleged to have used recruitment agency strike as scab, which is against the law. The workers are fighting for a living wage, and reasonable bonus targets. They currently receive £200 a week, in addition to another £20 bonus which many workers have argued is impossible to make out.

They have taken a series of 24hr strike days, and plan a 48hr action next week. On the same day JJB workers will be holding a protest at Wigan Athletic's JJB Stadium.
