THURSDAY 9TH

OAXACA FILM NIGHT 8PM

More information is coming out of Oaxaca in Mexico since last week so we
will be running an alternative news slot this Thursday to bring people up
to date.

Videos to be shown include the successful battle to hold out against
police raids on the university and the APPO radio station. Latest footage
with hopefully a live translation from spanish, with some speakers and
discussion too.

We may also be showing the films that couldn't be shown last weekend due
to the eviction of the Dalston E4E squat...

'ROMPER EL CERCO'(Break The Siege), a documentary revealing the mass
media’s strategy to ignore the concerns of the population and generates a
climate of fear in order to justify a massive police deployment. 3.000
riot cops enter Atenco with a cruel brutality. The results are devastated
homes, massive and arbitrary arrests, rapes and several violations of
human rights that remind us of the Latin American dictatorships of the
70s. The film tells the story of those who didn’t get the chance to speak
in the mass media and who do not feel intimidated in the struggle for
their rights.

'EL ENEMIGO COMUN'(Common Enemy), bouncing back and forth from community
to community, “el enemigo común” is both an introduction to some of the
many ignored resistances in North America, and it is also an urgent call
to action for international civil society, to stand in solidarity against
state sponsored repression and for human peace, dignity and justice, in
Oaxaca, Mexico. The film provides a historical context for the current
violent incarnation of capitalism and empire, and provokes action against
it as a common enemy.

So come along. 8pm SHARP

OTHER EVENTS

FRIDAY 11TH THE RAMPART SOCIAL 8PM -1PM

A vaguely Brazilian theme in mind as a farewell to a member of the
collective before she sets off for her travels. The usual format of open
mike and open decks but come along for company since it’s a good chance to
hang out at the Rampart and chat with folks outside of the usual rush of
events and meetings.

We’ll be putting films on in the background to the music so if you can
think of something that works well silent bring it along.
