When is a Pork Pie not a Pork Pie?

Northern Foods change government policy - how do they do it?

A big story for Pork Pie lovers

Melton Mowbray Pork Pie makers have campaign to have the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie protected and made only in Leicestershire as a regional specialised food. Northern Food the countries largest super market supplier has tried to block the move and have succeeded in getting the right to import and pass off any Pork Pie, made anywhere in the world, as a Melton Mowbray Pork Pie for the next five years.

How can EC and UK rules be so bent? Be Lord Haskin's Tony Blair's special advisor seems the obvious answer

This is simple act of corruption rips off the consumer, rips of the Melton Mowbray Pie Makers, rips off Farmer's and makes lots of lovely money for the cartel that is Northern Foods.

Wot Free Market?

Boycott Northern Food Pork Pie's and other products!

Only western products are protected

'Known' Western products, like the pork pies, or like 'Champagne' have protection under law. However when Ethiopia tried to protect it's known coffee brands in the exact same fashion they were blocked by lobbyists working for Starbucks.
