An Army of Yobs!

A classic Problem, Reaction, Solution.

Government think-tanks in conjunction with the media are on a drive to demonise youngsters in the UK, branding them as yobs that see ASBO’s as a badge of honour. A report suggests Britain is a nation living in fear of its young people and allegedly 1.7 million admitted they avoid going out after dark as a direct result of youths gathering.

In their defence the kids claim, “There ain't nothing for us to do.” Therein lies the problem, so what is the proposed solution? National service! The Queen, Gordon Brown and David Cameron have all emphasised the importance of “service” in becoming a responsible citizen, but what they really mean is military service.

Tory leader Cameron said, “Young people could be given their adult rights as a reward for completing a modern day national service scheme.” He challenged the notion that rights should automatically come with age, they have to be earned. The incentive he offers is the privilege of drinking alcohol before the age of eighteen.

Under-age drinking is the last thing which is going to encourage good behaviour! A breakdown of the family is cited as the reason our youths are out of control and social exclusion minister Hilary Armstrong says that state intervention will work to improve the situation. Tony Blair wants potential criminals identified while still in the womb.

This scheme will necessitate a national DNA database to keep tabs on all citizens and micro-chipping a birth. That will soon root out trouble makers, but since our prisons are full to capacity, the only option left would be to conscript offenders into the armed forces to fight the ‘war on terror,’ After all, our troops are stretched to the limit.

That is why disaffected young people are being deliberately lured into crime and getting a bad press, to create the public demand for tougher measures. The mother of shooting victim Jesse James from Moss Side said she thinks unruly teenagers should be forced to join the army. They will, and then they can learn to kill with impunity.

Interesting theory. But what's your evidence for your main point, that "what they really mean is military service".

Where has the Queen, Gordon Brown or Cameron ever said that?

The Cameron plan has been to make them do two weeks of community service, through the Young Adult Trust. Not quite the same as making them part of the military.

"That is why disaffected young people are being deliberately lured into crime and getting a bad press, to create the public demand for tougher measures."

What, and they've been doing that for the six years I was harrassed and victimised before I had the sense to flee the UK and make a home elsewhere in Europe where the kids respect their elders? Yeah right. Sometimes a conspiracy just.. isn't. Sorry.
