Three jailed for racially-motivated bombing but who cares?

Another explosives case that's lipped under the radar...

Not the media, that's for sure. This seems to be just another explosives case that's slipped in under the radar. Where are the MPs speaking out angrily in Parliament about the terrorists in our midst. Where's the country-wide publicity and where are the furious editorials? Maybe we'll see them tomorrow.

Don't hold your breath...

bbc explanations

27.10.2006 11:57

i'm just waiting for the written reply from the director of bbc news that i requested, but i've had a telephone conversation already where they claim that their local news staff were originally put off the story because 'local police played it down', and then they couldn't report it because 'reporting restrictions were applied'.

when i receive the written confirmation i'll be following this up. all sounds very suspect doesn't it.

Restrictions?

27.10.2006 13:45

From what we've read, there were no restrictions on reporting in place other than those required to maintain safety during the arrest process and search of the houses. It might be possible that this was just a missed item if it wasn't for the fact that there are other similar incidents as pointed out in the article (the Muslim News section) that were covered very poorly if at all.

It'll be interesting to see how well this case is covered when it comes up again.

''It'll be interesting to see how well this case is covered when it comes up again''

What, as much as Lancaster UAF have covered the Kriss Donald case?
Pot calling the kettle black it seems.

* Terrorist Conspiracy to cause explosions and the wider social implications of it's media blackout.
* A brutal, disgusting and *isolated* murder in a community by gang-related scumbags trying to bolster their reputation

One has things to say about the whole country and the way our perceptions of it are shaped, the other has things to do with an ongoing drug (not race) war in one city. Still I'm not seeing Pollokshields erupt in race war. Sorry if that disappoints you.
