“War” on Iraq in perspective: The developing US imperialism and demonocracy

Summary:

The military invasion and occupation of Iraq is examined within the context of US imperialism. The dual nature of US politico-economic system is identified as an imperialism-democracy complex, with international imperialism and domestic capitalist democracy being its essential and interacting components. Some general laws of this imperialism-democracy complex are also proposed and it is shown how imperialism leads to the transformation of democracy into demonocracy, at its higher stages of development, like that of the US. The specific facts of the great conspiracy of the invasion, occupation, plunder, and robbery of the fabulous oil and other resources of Iraq, are placed and examined within that context. The most important need for understanding and analyzing various conflicts and invasions, constantly created by the US imperialism, throughout the world-the Iraqi invasion being the latest manifestation of these-in all their complexity and in the dialectical complexity of imperialism and democracy-is identified and explained. It is self-evident that such colossal and complex problems as US imperialism and its various manifestations need to be understood and analyzed in all their complexity, in as much depth as possible, for the formulation of effective strategies and tactics to counter and resist these. Fragmented, simplistic, and shallow pseudo-practical approaches to such immensely complex and gigantic problems have lead nowhere in the past. These are unlikely to lead anywhere in the present or future either.

Introduction:

The continuing mass murder of Iraqis by the high tech military machine of the US is the most recent crime and sin against humanity and stands out among a lengthy list of such crimes and sins on account of the unparalleled crudeness; vulgarity; naked militarism, imperialism, racism, and fascism; audacity in deception and lying to the American people as well as to the whole world; defiance of domestic and international law as well as the UN and the international community of nations; and resorting to transparent falsehoods, denial of self-evident facts, and manufacture of self-evident delusions.

Imperialism has not disappeared from this world after the betrayal of socialism in the former USSR and Eastern Europe. On the contrary, Russia has now become an imperialist country itself and has joined the capitalist-imperialist camp . Of course, the godfather and coordinator of all imperialism continues to be the US.

All the imperialist countries have had a predatory history. However, many of them have substituted non-militarist politico-economic methods for achieving their objectives in the Third World. US has been an exception in this regard and since the Second World War, it has unleashed and sponsored countless military conflicts, interventions, and disruptions of independent politico-economic development in numerous countries throughout the world. It has wreaked havoc throughout the world and devastated and extinguished the lives of countless human beings, including many who were the best and highest expressions of human nature. The case of Iraq is an inextricable part of that context and must be examined as such. It cannot be understood or addressed outside that context.

Predatory political economy of imperialism creates a predatory imperialist mass psychology; culture; politics; military, militarism, militarist policies and actions; and all the international relations. These manifest themselves in constant production and reproduction of various international and national crises and problems. Within the existing balance of social forces, mitigation and opposition to such individual crises and problems is extremely important. However, one must not lose sight of their context in that process. The nature of systematic and constant generation of these crises and problems under a highly militarized political economy, like that of the US, requires a systematic, integrated, and dialectical approach to their understanding and creation of a mass movement based on this. Abolition of the constant production and reproduction of these crises, problems, atrocities, and crimes requires the abolition of imperialist political economy. In a highly brainwashed, disinformed, and unimaginative society like that of the US, it may seem to be an impossible goal. But nothing short of it will do the job. That must be the aim of any genuine, rational, and sincere peace, social and international justice, and environmental mass movement.

Dual nature of US politico-economic system: capitalist democracy and imperialism:

It is of paramount importance to understand the real nature of US politico-economic system in order to understand its national and international realities. Domestically, the system constitutes a form of capitalist democracy, mostly defined in terms of holding regular elections after definite periods of time. To go into the numerous flaws and erosions of this form of democracy in the US is beyond the scope of this paper. Suffice it to say here that this democracy has been evolving into a demonocracy in its interactions with its international counterpart, i-e., imperialism. Nothing has deformed and eroded the domestic democracy in the US more than its international imperialism. During 1986, I had presented a new theory on this subject at the Pacific Northwest Marxist Scholars Conference in Seattle, under the title, “Some aspects of the developing dialectic of US capitalist democracy and international imperialism” (1), in which I had elaborated on this subject in some detail and also shown that US imperialism frequently transformed into fascism in many countries as it was the godfather of numerous fascist dictatorships throughout the world in the post Second World War period. I also hypothesized that the dialectics of national capitalist democracy and international imperialism and fascism would eventually lead to national fascism too. This is still a transitory and rather obscure stage but the events and facts seem to be leading in that direction.

The US politico-economic system has been demonocratic throughout its history for the peoples of the Third World, starting with the genocide of Native Americans and theft and colonization of their country. Its crimes and sins against humanity are too many to list or discuss here. But it is self-evident that billions of human beings have suffered incalculable damages, deprivations, repressions, mass murders, plunders and theft of their resources, and the loss of the best among them, as a direct result of the policies, actions, conspiracies, and crimes of this godfather of all imperialism and fascism in the world. They have done all that wearing the formal “democratic” masks and cloaks. If that is democracy then Hell is Paradise. This system also has been demonocratic towards the minorities here, at its center, which have been, and continue to be, subjected to demonic levels and types of racist discrimination and oppression. These minorities here are people from the same Third World countries that have suffered its imperialism and fascism internationally. Throughout its history, the real heroes of the Third World were demonized and targeted for destruction by US imperialism while the traitors were elevated and inflated to the status of heroes. Total and absolute perversion! They continued, and continue, to claim without even batting an eye, that their policies and actions would lead to progress and advancement of democracy in the victimized nations! US imperialists have developed such sinister hypocrisy, deceptions, and lies to new heights now under the current Bush and his Oil-Military-Industrial-Complex (OMIC) gang. If one has even a tiny flicker of any genuine spirit and concern for truth, justice, and goodness, one’s blood would boil in rage on hearing the cold blooded, self-satisfied, and self-righteous lies and hypocrisies farting out of the mouths of these ultimate imperialist robots. I do not know what advice would the Spanish Philosopher Unamuno have given if he had seen and heard these unlivable robots. In his time, he had advised people not to waste time on talking or arguing with such deformations of mankind and, instead, to spit on them, throw stones at them etc. etc. However, one thing is very clear: it is a total waste of time and energy to try to talk to them rationally or spiritually. They are immune to all human reason and spirit. A worse deformation of human nature could hardly have occurred. And yet, these deformations are able to mesmerize and brainwash a great majority of American people over and over again, repeatedly, in spite of getting caught red-handed with their lies and hypocrisies. What is wrong with the American people? That is a most important question. Part of the answer to this question is that the leaders of this country are also responsible for the deformation of the human nature of great majority of American people. They have, by now, inflicted deep and severe damages to the human nature of great majority of American people, making them incapable of seeing or feeling even the simplest of facts and truth or of speaking clearly about them. The manufacture of mass false consciousness and mass psychology by the politico-ideological factories in the US is the most frightening nightmare that comes true and manifests itself over and over again in various parts of the Third World. All these facts are apodictic. However, these are most shamelessly denied by the swarms of intellectual prostitutes and brainwashed and disinformed officials of all the institutions of this society. Exceptions are very rare in this regard. It makes one sick to death to see such great uniformity and self-righteousness in evil, denial of reality, injustice, lies, and corruption of the spirit and intellect. How can the people, who are so advanced in science and technology, be so maldeveloped in their human nature? I have analyzed this matter in some depth in two of my papers. One “Effects of the contemporary technological model on the genetic regulation of inner human faculties” was published in the Journal of Social and Biological Structures during 1980 (2). The other, written during 1982 and entitled, “Biosocial regulation of human nature by social systems-science and technology-culture complexes”, was presented at an international conference in Grenada, Spain (3). In these papers, I synthesized knowledge and information in various areas of social and biological sciences and developed a new comprehensive theory of formation, changes, and biosocial regulation of human nature under the powerful forces of different integrated complexes of social systems, cultures, and science and technology. The contents and conclusions of this new theory are too complex to describe here. However, extremely dangerous malformations of human nature and their causes, under the social system-science and technology-culture complex of imperialism, have been identified and analyzed in these papers.

Are they mentally retarded or just acting like ones?

The pretexts of Bush and his OMIC gang for the criminal “war” on Iraq are such transparent and self-evident lies and deceptions that make one wonder about the sanity of their inventors and propagators as well as about the sanity of people who fall into that transparent trap. It is mutual masturbation in mental retardation. Are they really mentally retarded or just acting like ones?

The big nauseating lie of the OMIC gang has been the endless parrotization of Iraq’s alleged “weapons of mass destruction”(WMD). This from the godfather of all the biggest and most monstrous stockpiles of all types of WMD, some of which they have actually used against other nations and also have provided to other countries, including Iraq, when they enlisted them in their imperialist camp. To begin with, it was totally unjust, irrational, and a violation of international law and standards to demand the unilateral disarmament of Iraq in a region where the godfather of all militarism has armed Israel to the teeth. Israel also possesses various WMD, which it obviously acquired with the help of its godfather. Other nations in the region also have enormous arsenals of various types of weapons, sold to them mostly by the merchants of death in the US and UK. The US, godfather, creator, user, and biggest stockpiler of the most monstrous WMD was waging bizarre propaganda that some rudimentary WMD programs of Iraq constituted great threat to the US and world security! Most of Iraq’s WMD programs were still in the research and development stage and Iraq had no missiles capable of delivery to the US, while the US has missiles of all ranges, with multiple warhead carrying capabilities, that can deliver all types of the most monstrous WMD to every corner of this planet. US went beyond its usual Theatre of Absurd into the Theatre of Sinister and subjected the entire UN and the whole world to it. It was a great injustice and irrationality to have imposed such unilateral disarmament on Iraq through the domination of the UN by the US. Iraqis reluctantly agreed to this injustice after the First Gulf War, in order to prevent the further devastation of their country and people. During the first wave of UN inspections, after that criminal mass slaughter, most of the WMD and their production facilities in Iraq were destroyed by the UN inspectors. Much of the infrastructure of Iraq’s public health and sanitation as well as power stations etc. had been deliberately targeted and destroyed in that first imperialist assault. Then a regime of strict sanctions and embargo was imposed on the country. As a direct result of all that, around one and a half million Iraqis died. This clearly is a new form of mass murdering huge numbers of people, invented by the US military-industrial-political think tanks, as part of their endless development of strategy, tactics, and weapons for mass murder and annihilation.

Meanwhile, the UN inspectors commenced their inspections in Iraq once again, in spite of the various obstacles put in their way by the US. In earlier inspections, following the First Gulf War, they had destroyed almost all of Iraq’s WMD and WMD R & D facilities. Many of those inspectors had given public testimony to that effect. The second wave of inspections, by highly qualified experts, failed to produce any evidence of WMD in Iraq, in spite of the most extensive and intensive searches. This confirmed the public information of the earlier inspectors, cited above. However, the protagonists of the US Theatre of Sinister kept on insisting that Iraq was hiding huge numbers of WMD, in spite of all the WMD experts stating that it was next to impossible to hide such weapons from them, their instruments, and techniques. Nothing can be clearer than the fact that the US was desperately looking for some legitimizing pretext, no matter how clumsy, for the invasion of Iraq. It tried its best for the UN to provide it with one. But, in spite of using all the corrupt and corrupting methods imaginable, the UN refused to provide it with any such pretext. At that stage, the US went into the most grotesque act of its Theatre of Sinister and made a unilateral, illegal, and impossible demand on Iraq, i-e., for its President and his family to go into exile!!! Even though imperialist powers, and especially the US, have routinely engaged in numerous acts of the Theatre of Absurd and Theatre of Sinister during the past history, it would be hard to find a match for this one. Again and again, one is forced to wonder whether these people are really mentally retarded or just acting like ones! In either case, how did such people manage to advance to the top positions in the most powerful country of this world? What does it say about the people who elected them to such offices? Whatever the reason, it is hard to bear the sight and results of this grand mutual masturbation of mental retardation in the Theatre of Sinister.

They launched a massive high tech military invasion of Iraq in defiance of the UN and overwhelming majority of the “international community”, that they still continue to pay lip service to and on behalf of which they claim to be acting! Another example of mental retardation? When the whole world, the whole humanity is most vehemently opposing their invasion, they claim to be acting on their behalf! And they are getting away with impunity! That is what happens in a demonocracy. It can never happen in a democracy.

They tried their utmost to frame Iraq once again, like the senior Bush did during the First Gulf War, into providing them with a pretext to launch military aggression. However, in spite of all their efforts, they were totally frustrated as Iraq was agreeing to all the unjust and humiliating demands, including the inspections of the Presidential residences and interviewing of its scientists etc. They were constantly conjuring up lies about Iraq’s WMD and claiming possession of irrefutable evidence in that regard, without specifying what it was. When finally they revealed some of it, it amounted to not only nothing but parts of it were found to be based on forged documents! This constituted a major discovery as they got caught red handed with hatching their military aggression plot with the help of forged documents, claiming on that basis that Iraq was importing or trying to import uranium from Niger. But the complacent news media, Congress, and other institutions of this society downplayed that major event and then it got buried under the enormous weight of the events of military invasion.

Bush’s OMIC gang also kept on trying to fabricate stories about Iraq’s connections to terrorism and Al-Qaeda. But all those stories turned out to be false. Iraq had no connections with any so-called terrorist groups.

It is a US invasion. The use of the word “coalition” is another big linguistic deception. Even the important involvement of UK must be considered as part of the overall US forces and strategy. UK has hardly any independence in foreign policy areas and follows the US like a lap dog. US utilized the most blatant methods of bribery, arm twisting, and other such corrupt and corrupting methods to align the “international community” behind it. But, it failed miserably in all such efforts. Aside from a few pathetic traitors of former socialist Eastern European countries and some others, overwhelming majority of the real international community continued to oppose the criminal invasion, in spite of all the corrupt and corrupting tactics used by the US.

The most repugnant and most mentally retarded lie of the Bush’s OMIC gang is that the US invasion is for the liberation of Iraqi people and establishment of democracy!!! Anyone with any intelligence and any unbrainwashed mental space would see right through it instantly and cannot but be revolted in the extreme. Overwhelming majority of the world’s people have done precisely that and are expressing their revulsion passionately in numerous ways. Part of the anti-war movement in the US has done the same, even though there is considerable confusion among other sections of the movement. However, Bush’s OMIC gang has full spectrum confidence in the full spectrum dumbness, ignorance, complacency, gullibility, and brainwashability of majority of the American people who have not disappointed them, once again. They know they can count on these extraordinary qualities of American people as they have proven so trustworthy in this regard in much of their history, especially after the Second World War. There can be no other explanation for such pathological audacity. But to expect anyone outside the US, and especially the people of Iraq, Middle East, and Muslim countries, to have any other reaction to such imperialist excretion than nausea and rage – even though Bush and his OMIC gang excreted it through their mouths rather than the normal outlet – is bizarre in the extreme and shows their being totally out of touch with international reality and in a state of total and sinister delusions.

The most repressive, anti-democratic, and humiliating rule in any country is that of a foreign occupying imperialist and colonialist power. One would have thought that in the 21st Century, everyone understood that truism. However, it is shocking to learn that Bush’s OMIC gang and their tens of millions of followers in the most “developed” nation of this world - following in the footsteps of their ancestors who “liberated” Native Americans, Philippinos, Hawaiians, and Africans in slavery – still think it is possible to fool people by calling things by their opposite names. Their ancestors were using the Orwellian language long before Orwell. After all, it is now 2003, 19 years since 1984. So, why not improvise further on the legacy of their ancestors and develop the art of talking with a forked tongue to its newer heights and start talking with the forkedest tongue imaginable. They think that when they are based on such enormous military and economic power as that of the US, they have the power to present mental retardation as wisdom; colonialism, neocolonialism, and imperialism as liberation; theft, plunder, and robbery as generosity and giving away aid; high tech mass murders as humanity; and demonocracy as democracy. They think they can get away with all that and have the right to talk with the forkedest tongue. One wonders about the vastness of contempt they must have for the intelligence and integrity of American people! One also wonders whether that contempt is well deserved! Imperialism has always been the greatest enemy of democracy in the Third World periphery. The history of imperialism is overflowing with establishment of the most brutal dictatorships and puppet client regimes in the Third World by the Western imperialist nations. In the second half of the last Century, US became the godfather of all imperialisms and has developed the art and science of blocking and crushing the independent national development and national liberation movements of the developing countries - as well as of overthrowing and replacing the national liberationist and democratic governments with puppet and client regimes – to unmatchable heights.

In the imperialist center itself also, imperialism has been the greatest enemy of democracy, in spite of some superfluous appearances and contradictions. For example, in the US, American people have been treated to constant bombardment of lies, hypocrisies, deceptions, secrecies and disinformation by their leaders to cover up and misrepresent their international imperialist operations. Consenting to such lies, hypocrisies, and deceptions of the “democratic” government, some of them of extremely sinister and evil nature, by the general populace, destroys the very essence of democracy, which consists of people consenting to policies and actions based upon truth. The dialectical interactions between imperialism and democracy in the advanced capitalist societies play the most powerful role in the development and evolution of these, both at the center as well as in the periphery. These play particularly powerful role in case of the US, which is, by far, the most powerful, militarist, aggressive, conceited, and deceptive imperialism of all history. Because of its power and its nature, it is wreaking havoc with genuine democracy everywhere, at its center, in the periphery, in other imperialist countries, and in socialist societies. It is the most powerful distortion, perversion, erosion, militarization, and imperialismization of democracy – everywhere, all over this planet. A more sinister, evil, and antidemocratic force is hardly imaginable.

The reality of democracy is eroded in such a context even if the mechanical formalities and appearances are maintained. As is self-evident, even the formalities and appearances of democracy are being greatly eroded at this stage of the development of US imperialism-democracy complex. US imperialism-democracy system has been routinely transformed into fascism in various developing countries, e.g., Nicaragua, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador, Zaire, Philippines, Iran, Indonesia, El Salvador etc. etc. under various dictatorships in the service of US imperialism and its big capital. The chickens are coming home to roost now and the transition to the uniquely American form of fascism has already begun at the center. Internationally also, the fascist nature of US imperialism is becoming transparent more than ever. The so-called “war on terrorism” and “war on Iraq” are manifestations of the naked fascism of US imperialism. These are the self-evident expressions of the most brutal, most plunderous, and most mass murderous domination of rich oil, natural gas, and other resources of Central Asia and Caspian Sea and of Iraq on behalf of the giant US oil and military-industrial transnational corporations by the US government and military. Some leftovers may be thrown into the bowls of UK corporations too for the participation of UK in this imperialist-fascist plunder.

The abovementioned two pretexts for the invasion of Iraq are grotesque in the extreme and reveal the total contempt of Bush’s OMIC gang for the intellectual and spiritual-moral integrity of the American people. They expect American people to unquestioningly accept such demonic excretions. Right now when they are invading Iraq and slaughtering thousands of its people, whose liberation is claimed to be the goal of invasion, Bush himself as well as other gang leaders are even putting the blame for their criminal slaughters on Saddam Hussain !!! More pathological, deceitful, and conceited liars and hypocrites are hardly imaginable. And yet, a great majority of American people continue to support these thugs and mass murderers. One is again and again forced to ask: WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? US was founded on genocide, deceit, robbery, and plunder of Native Americans and their land. The invaders made off with unparalleled gains from all that. Their descendants have developed all that plunder into the richest and, ecologically, the most destructive – both to nature and human nature - economy and most powerful military machine in history. Innumerable invaders and their progeny benefited enormously from that great plunder and great genocide of Native Americans. Now, they instinctively expect to benefit from all imperialist plunders and robberies. They expect at least the crumbs to be thrown at them by their leaders. However, times have changed now. In vain they wait for these after being deceived and disappointed repeatedly. The political, military, and corporate leaders now invariably divide the loot among themselves. American people are in for yet another big deception and disappointment. They will be left to foot the huge hundreds of billions of dollars of bill for the Greatest Oil Robbery of History, without sharing the loot. Byron had said long time ago that the greatest task of his life was to unlearn what he had learnt. Objectively, this is the colossal task Americans face as a nation. However, most are not even conscious of that greatest of national and international necessity. They are so self-confident of their deformed, pervert, impoverished, and mutilated mass consciousness and psychology. If anything is worse than arrogant ignorance, it is the arrogant disinformation, which is widespread in this society. Most Americans are experiencing a temporary and transient psychological high for “victory” over an essentially defenseless nation, which was subjected to a systematic and prolonged economic and military erosion before the imperialist invasion. Remember, they were also “standing tall” after the invasion and “victory” over tiny Granada? Only the sickest, most degenerate, and lowliest mass psychology can get a high in such cases. Any people with any kind of healthy mass psychology would be revolted and angry in the extreme over such imperialist monstrosities, evils, and injustices. And that is precisely how the overwhelming majority of the people of this planet have reacted to this imperialist aggression and mass slaughter of Iraqis.

Why did they not do, what they are doing now, during and after the First Gulf War? That is a most important question. The answer to that question is also extremely important as well as self-evident now. At that time, Iraq still possessed significant numbers of some types of WMD, which it would have used if pushed into a corner, causing great losses of the lives of American military personnel. That was an effective deterrent which stopped further invasion of Iraqi territory by the American ground forces. US had a much more sinister plot for Iraq i.e., to first get its WMD destroyed through the UN and only then invade it fully and go all the way to Baghdad. After the political and military leaders and think tanks of the US were sure that almost all the WMD had been destroyed by the UN inspectors, they became extremely restless and started trying every trick in their bag to legitimize their invasion plot through the UN. When, in spite of all their efforts, they failed in the UN, they shamelessly violated the UN Charter and procedures, all international law, and the expressed will of the overwhelming majority of world community against the criminal and unjust war, and launched a massive high tech military attack on a country which their conspiracy and prolonged economic sanctions had already greatly weakened, impoverished, and devastated.

Iraq was trapped into two major deceptions by the US;

1. It was trapped in the First Gulf War by US giving the clear message to Saddam Hussain that if he invaded Kuwait, the US would stay neutral. That message was given to him by the US ambassador to Iraq personally and has been widely publicized.
2. it was trapped into the current Second Gulf War by the US by using the UN weapons inspectors to destroy almost all its WMD. If Iraqi leadership hoped that by doing so, it would avoid another devastating military attack by the US, it was a great blunder. By doing so, it only ensured such an attack. The US politico-economic and military strategists were anxiously waiting for precisely such a moment. In spite of all their lying , hypocritical, and fictitious public pronouncements about Iraq’s continued possession of WMD , the US leaders and strategists are fully confident that almost all of Iraq’s WMD have been destroyed by the UN inspectors. That is the moment they had been waiting for and, in their rush to grab it, they stampeded on all international law and other norms, the UN, passionate anti-war sentiments of the whole mankind, all justice and decency, and all the historically developed human values, letting all their masks and cloaks to fall down, and standing naked in front of the whole world. What most of the people of this world are seeing are the unimaginably monstrous creatures from Hell which only invoke hatred and revulsion in them. However, majority of the American people still don’t get it! The Veil of Maya is very very thick indeed in the American mental apparatus.

It is also important to remember that the US had used Saddam Hussain and his military forces against the Iranian revolution, providing him with chemical and other weapons of mass destruction, and even guiding him in their use on Iran. US had similarly used Osama Bin Laden and his Muslim guerilla fighters, recruited from numerous countries, as well as many Afghan groups, some of which later consolidated into Taliban – all armed, trained, and funded by the US, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan – against the revolutionary government of Afghanistan and its Soviet supporters. If the US had left Afghanistan alone, there would have been no Soviet intervention and the history would have been very different there. As a result of these imperialist interventions, millions of people in Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan were killed and these countries also suffered enormous economic damages. It is especially true of Afghanistan, which had a very undeveloped economy to begin with. The use of high tech weapons and decades of continuous war devastated the country. After achieving its objectives in these countries, the US started conspiring against its former allies, both in Iraq and Afghanistan, when they refused to be the complete puppets of US imperialism and started insisting on their relative independence, in the interests of their relative independent national development. Afghanistan, one of the least technologically and industrially developed countries in the world, was once again devastated by the US military assault and the use of various high tech weapons of technologically and scientifically the most advanced nation of the world, under the pretext of “war against terrorism”. Afghans had nothing to do with the events of 9/11. There was no evidence or proof of Osama Bin Laden and his group’s involvement in them either. The real agenda and motives for that attack consisted of attempts to secure and control the vast oil, natural gas, and other resources of Central Asia and Caspian Sea. US had been planning the construction of a pipeline through Afghanistan for these for many years prior to the military invasion of Afghanistan. The US is repeating the same in Iraq now, on a much larger scale.

As a direct result of the systematic deceptions of Iraq by the US through the UN, the US and UN have lost all credibility. No nation in its right mind will fall into the trap of disarmament to be subsequently attacked by the full might of the US military. To the contrary, it is very likely now that, in similar situations, countries in possession of WMD, will consider them as the most effective deterrent against such assaults and, instead of giving them up, will use them if attacked. This short sighted opportunistic deception of Iraq by the US, using the UN as its tool, has made the use of WMD very likely in the future.

Can there be any doubt as to the real motives behind all this Theatre of Absurd and the Theatre of Sinister, behind all these blatant, clumsy, and mentally retarded lies and hypocrisies, behind all these maneuvers, strategies, conspiracies, and actions? Not if you are not mentally retarded or hopelessly brainwashed. As every Arab child knows, the first and foremost real motive of the US invasion of Iraq is to grab and control its enormous oil and natural gas deposits. Proven oil deposits of Iraq are an estimated 112 billion barrels, second only to Saudi Arabia’s. It is very likely that Iraq has many more such untapped and undiscovered deposits. Such untapped deposits in Iraq are estimated to be around 200 billion barrels by the Energy Department. With their eyes fixed on such vast resources of energy, wealth, and profits, Bush’s OMIC gang is hardly able to see anything else, including the extreme absurdity of their pretexts, positions, and statements. Their eyes and minds are fixed there and everything else is secondary to them, including the disruption, destruction, and subjugation of an entire nation of 25 million human beings, whom they already have subjected to collective tortures and destruction through first trapping them in the First Gulf War, then through the imposition of prolonged devastating trade and economic sanctions, and now the Second Gulf War! What are these creatures? Are they human or demons? They are occupying the top positions of the most powerful country in the world , turning the whole nation into a demonocracy and labeling everyone who refuses to become a part of that demonocracy as a “terrorist”! And American people? They are too intoxicated with the empty slogans of” democracy”, “freedom”, and “individuality” etc. to see the reality of their society, system, government, or leadership, much less the havoc these are wreaking in other countries.

The aims of imperialist-fascist sections of the ruling class of the US, represented by Bush and his OMIC gang, go far beyond Iraq and encompass the control of the whole resource rich region of the Middle East. Invasion of Iraq is only the first step in that direction. Iraq, fighting for itself against this imperialist-fascist colonialism and plunder, is also fighting for the whole of the Middle East. Many people of the region see that clearly. However, many of the ruling elites in these countries are blinded by addiction to decades of subservience, puppetry, and service to their imperialist masters. They hope to continue the status quo after the fall of Iraq. However, the US is aiming for big changes which will give it much greater control and exploitation of the resources of the region and they are going to learn the hard way about that, when it is too late. Already the imperialist-fascist forces are occupying several countries of the region, against the will of overwhelming majority of their people.

Another effect of the fall of Iraq into the US hands would be the continued and enhanced domination of Israel in the region, the transplanted clone of Western imperialism in that region.

All this, of course, is part of the demonic and idiotic doctrine of “full spectrum dominance” of the US, which openly declares the aim of US to be the full spectrum domination of the whole world. A more sinister and foolish doctrine is hardly imaginable. And yet, these unmatchable creatures of all evolution, are broadcasting it to the whole world, with deafening chest-thumping noises, without a trace of reflection, shame, or guilt. In the not too long run, such sinister doctrines, policies, and actions will inevitably lead the US and the whole world to the deadest and deadliest end. Sooner or later, these are going to lead it into a devastating conflict with one or more of the major nuclear powers, like Russia, China, and even France. Any of these powers, and especially if combined together, can destroy the US, even though they will also suffer the same fate. US has become addicted to having its way, no matter how unjust, irrational, and asinine that might be, and others backing off. However, it is very likely that some nation or nations will get so fed up with all that that they will risk mutual assured destruction rather than being constantly subjected to the most asinine, unjust, and irrational demands and dictates of US imperialism. US is not all that secure even in face of much lesser military powers. Even a country with a relatively few nuclear weapons can devastate the US military machine and economy through electromagnetic pulses generated by the explosion of just a few of these at appropriate locations and altitudes over the US. This will disable all the electric and electronic power and other systems, power lines, communications and transportation systems etc. etc. in the whole country. Any of the major nuclear powers can easily do that. In view of such and numerous other known and unknown dangers, if the US leaders had any rationality, they would try to minimize the conflicts, in the interests of their own nation. However, as the events demonstrate most clearly, instead, they are rushing head on, full speed towards the abyss, blindfolded by their insatiable greed and intoxication. They now literally constitute the most morbid and lethal danger to the whole world as well as to the US itself. The pursuit of the foolish and sinister doctrine of “full spectrum dominance” will inevitably lead to full spectrum destruction of the US, in addition to much of the rest of the world.

As far as the portrayal of invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq as “crusades” is concerned, it is utter nonsense, if considered in purely religious terms. The crusades always had a politico-economic core, which was covered up in religious cloaks and masks. That core is the only connection between the crusades and US imperialist actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Middle East. However, the US imperialism is not wearing the masks and cloaks of Christianity. It is wearing the masks and cloaks of democracy, liberation, and anti-terrorism. Only the religious right in this country as well as in Arab and Muslim countries may interpret the actions of imperialism there as crusade, purely in religious terms. The politico-economic leaders and majority of the people do not see it that way. In purely religious terms, in spite of their lip service to God and Christianity, Bush and his OMIC gang are as anti-God, anti-Christ, and anti-Christianity as they are anti-Allah and anti-Islam. They are violating and stampeding upon the values of all the major religions and philosophies of this world, especially those of Christianity, a religion of peace, love, and justice. What can Christianity have in common with nuclear-weapons, oil, and dollar intoxicated creatures? Imperialism is the diametric opposite of Christianity. You cannot be an imperialist and a Christian at the same time. If one is not mentally and spiritually retarded, how can one not see the extreme anti-Christian and anti-Christ nature of the invasion and mass slaughter of Iraqis, no matter what pretexts are given?

Effects on American people:

Bush and his OMIC gang are playing a colossal con game with the American people. Their real agenda involves using the US armed forces, belonging to the American people and the nation as a whole, for their private plunder of the rich oil and other resources of Iraq. Exorbitant national financial, military, human and other resources of the US are being utilized for private profits and gains. They are using the national armed forces of the US as their private armies and getting away with it! How is that possible in any genuine democracy? Just the financial costs of this grand conspiracy will run into hundreds of billions of dollars, coming out of the pockets of ordinary tax payers. Overwhelming majority of American people will not gain anything from such imperialist plunder and robbery. They will lose enormous amounts of financial resources, not to mention many of their lives, for the private greed of the OMIC gang, which totally dominates this administration. Even though much of the rest of the world knows exactly what Bush and his OMIC gang are after, relatively few Americans show any awareness of it. Even if they are aware inside, it is buried under layers and layers of diversions and rationalizations and as such, this deeply buried and suppressed awareness is as good as none. This is the result of prolonged brainwashing, desensitizing, and other forms of conditioning by the most powerful propaganda and mass psychology manipulating machine in history, which have made most Americans incapable of perceiving or feeling even the simplest of truths and facts or the most horrible consequences of military invasions and assaults of other nations, in spite of their leaders getting caught red handed, repeatedly, with lying and deception in such matters. For example, they were lied to and deceived systematically and constantly throughout the Vietnam war, during the Gulf of Tonkin concoctions, U2 incident in the former USSR, about a non-existing missile gap etc. etc. The history of many of these lies and deceptions is well documented and has been well publicized. Just as a result of policies and actions, based on such official lies and deceptions, more than 3 million Indochinese and 58,000 Americans lost their lives during the Vietnam war, which also devastated and polluted that country enormously and diabolically. David Wise had documented these and numerous other lies and deceptions of the US government leaders, to which American people were subjected, officially and systematically (7). Things have gotten much worse since then. Leaders of US are now totally intoxicated with being the only superpower on this planet. They are now most shamelessly and self-confidently engaged in the ruthless perversion of all values, perverting lies into truth, evil into good, injustice into justice, war into peace, occupation and invasion of other countries into “liberation”, etc. etc., and vice versa , ad nauseum. Much of the American public is also trapped in a similar mass psychology.

The mentally retarded lies and deceptions, being offered as pretexts for the invasion of Iraq, as mentioned above, can only be accepted by people who have already been brainwashed to the state of mental retardation. No one with any intellectual and spiritual competence or integrity can fall for them. People need to ask themselves: Is it really “patriotism” to be accomplices in such great theft, robbery, crime, mass murders, lies, hypocrisies, and deceptions, that their leaders are engaged in Iraq.? Is such behavior consistent with any religious or secular values of any kind?

The imperialist thugs and thieves at the helms of the US government are, objectively, turning this whole nation, as well as its military forces, into thieves, robbers, mass murderers, criminals, and sinners of the worst kind. It is not patriotism to be accomplices in this great sin and crime. It is a great sin and crime, and distortion, perversion, evilization, and destruction of one’s human nature, to be an accomplice in all this. True patriotism consists of opposing such great sins and crimes with everything one has, to the best of one’s abilities. First of all , every human being is a human being with a human nature. One cannot be a good American, Russian, German, French, English, Chinese, or Iraqi with a bad, evilized, unjust, falsified, plunderous, and poisonous human nature. Neither can one be a good Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jew, or Buddhist with these. It is self-evident that almost all the leaders of Bush’s OMIC gang are severely infected with the worst forms of these and they are, in turn, infecting American people with these too. Such mass psychological pathologies can be transmitted massively, effectively, and rapidly under particular conditions and circumstances. For example, Hitler and Nazis were able to transmit such mass psychological pathologies to overwhelming majority of the German population, quite easily and rapidly. Germans were also highly “advanced” and “educated” in the fields of science, technology, and industry.

Such distortion, perversion, and evilization of the mass psychology of Americans by Bush and his OMIC gang constitute a powerful and massive attack on the human nature and intellectual and spiritual competence and integrity of American people. What a price to pay for oil!!! Jesus Christ’s saying, “What is a man profited if he has gained the whole world but lost his soul”, is most relevant to this situation. The souls of Americans have been already greatly eroded and polluted by successions of imperialist, deceptive, lying, plundering, conspiring, hypocritical, and mass murderous leaders. Bush and his cronies are trying their best to erode whatever soul or spiritual and intellectual competence and integrity might be left in them. This is the greatest damage that can be done to any human being It is even worse than dying to be systematically evilized in one’s human nature. Seen from this most important perspective, the worst enemies of American people at this stage are the Bush and his OMIC gang, as they are drastically eroding , distorting, perverting, and destroying their souls and intellects, their human nature, in pursuit of their private lusts for oil, profits, and power. In reality, Bush’s OMIC gang is the greatest enemy of all authentic American patriotism. OMIC gang is also using the military forces of this whole nation for achievement of their private sinister goals. They have already had some encounter with the truth in Iraq when Iraqis attacked them with everything they could, instead of spreading red carpets in front of them and showering them with flowers for their “liberation”, the lies they were brainwashed with. Sooner or later, these soldiers are going to find out the truth and when that dawns on them, what kind of “morale” will be left in them? How many will replace Timothy McVeigh? You can manipulate human nature within certain limits. Beyond those limits, human nature revolts, gets out of the manipulation web, discovers the truth, and then you better watch out as it will see you clearly for what you are and have been: its worst enemy. Besides other great damages that Bush’s OMIC gang is inflicting on the American people, they are also creating a profound and powerful danger to the morale and integrity of American military personnel. Millions of veterans of previous imperialist wars suffered debilitating damages to their physical and mental healths as a result of deceptions and lies of their government and leaders. Now a new generation is being fed into that imperialist war machine as fodder.

Under the guise of “patriotism”, people are being conned into unquestioning support for policies and actions of grand plunder, robbery, theft, deception, lies, atrocities, injustice, mass murder, evil, and imperialism by the imperialist-demonocratic government. Such “patriotism” is a great imperialist-demonocratic evil, of an extreme nature. People who participate and support such a great evil are doing just that. They are not being patriotic in the true sense of that much abused and manipulated word. Genuine patriotism is always consistent with the values, policies, and actions of justice, truth, goodness, freedom, peace, ecology, and other higher values. When patriotism is mobilized against all these higher values, as has been done by the Bush’s OMIC gang, it is not patriotism but mass mobilization for injustice, evil, robbery, plunder, and imperialism. The greatest terrorists of all history are claiming to be fighting the “war against terrorism”! The godfather of almost all the weapons of mass destruction is accusing weak little Third World countries, like Iraq, Iran, and North Korea etc., of being a threat to them and to the whole world! It is like a huge herd of elephants, which has stampeded on a large area of the jungle, causing devastation (elephants actually do that in some parts of Africa when they get drunk after eating fermenting fruits), accusing chipmunks to be planning a stampede and posing the threat to the whole jungle! Obviously, the mental retardation of the Bush’s OMIC gang is limitless and unmatchable. However, when mental retardation is not only empowered but is the only superpower, it can continue stampeding successfully until the whole jungle is destroyed. As is obvious, such superpower mental retardation can prevail over the highest of human intelligence and wisdom, under the conditions of contemporary evilized reality of this world. And yet, they never tire of boasting about this reality being the epitome of “civilization”, “development”, “progress” – and above all – “democracy”!!! The apparent military conquest of Iraq is a short sighted and temporary success, containing the seeds of long term eventual failure and irreversible damages to US and its interests in the Middle East, Muslim countries, and the world as a whole.

Inter-imperialist contradictions and conflicts:

After the collapse of former USSR, Russia has strived hard to join the imperialist camp. Other major members of this camp include US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan etc. Both World War I and II were the result of inter-imperialist contradictions and conflicts between major imperialist powers for division and redivision of the world in favor of their economic and political interests. Such contradictions and conflicts between the economic and military interests of the major imperialist powers flared up many times during the prolonged Iraqi crisis. As is self-evident, control over the huge multi-trillion dollar oil and other resources of Iraq is at stake here. Russia, France, Germany, and China had huge multi-billion dollar contracts with the government of Saddam Hussain either finalized or in the process of completion. US and UK , and their giant and other corporations, were being left out from these highly profitable and lucrative projects and contracts in Iraq. With their mouths drooling with epileptic frenzy, Bush’s OMIC gang and its UK collaborators bid farewell to all pretensions of elementary decency, ethics, international and domestic law, democracy and democratic values, as well as all other human values, and rushed to Iraq with great means of violence and destruction, in an uncontrollable frenzy of imperialist greed and plunder. USSR, France, Germany, and China attempted to stop this US-UK imperialist aggression through the UN mechanisms and the international law but failed to do so. They could only have prevented it if they were willing to confront the aggressors militarily, either directly or indirectly, by threatening to give military assistance to Iraq. They did neither and the US-UK imperialist frenzy went full speed ahead. Russia, France, Germany, and China are going to be the big losers in Iraq while the US and UK are going to be the big winners, if the US-UK plans are successful. In the Iraqi crisis, the economic interests of the Bush’s OMIC gang and its UK counterparts intersected with total immorality, inhumanity, anti-ethics, injustice, lies, monstrosity, war, and evil while those of the opposing imperialist powers intersected with some consistency with morality, ethics, humanity, justice, truth, goodness, and peace.

In the Iraqi crisis, inter-imperialist contradictions and conflicts did not lead to war between the major imperialist powers precisely because the opposing powers failed to confront the US and UK militarily against their imperialist aggression against Iraq to gain monopoly over its extraordinary rich natural resources and drastically reducing or eliminating the operations and interests of their other imperialist rivals there. This was, and still is, a potentially very dangerous situation for the whole world. If the other imperialist powers chose to protect their economic interests with military force, it could have, and still can, lead to the World War III, which will be catastrophic for all mankind and the whole world. Even if it did not and does not happen this time, continuation of the current course of action by the US and its collaborators will lead to it sooner or later. When there was USSR, inter-imperialist contradictions and conflicts between the major capitalist-imperialist powers were kept to a minimum. USSR also tried its utmost to prevent the Third World War, in spite of numerous US provocations. Now that the USSR has collapsed and Russia has become a competing imperialist nation, the inter-imperialist conflicts and contradictions are certain to increase greatly and so is the threat of Third World War.

Social sciences, imperialism, and democracy:

Social sciences, and especially the political science, are fundamentally flawed in the Western capitalist countries as these omit any serious knowledge, information, or analysis of the gigantic reality of imperialism, much less of its effects on democracy in the center or periphery. This great flaw in the very foundation of these “sciences” has retarded, distorted, perverted, and deformed their contents as well as knowledge and information about changes in the nature of overall politico-economic system and in the contents and forms of democracy. In the Marxist and socialist sciences, there has been extensive discussion and analyses of imperialism. However, almost all such discussion is focused on the international economic operations of imperialism. The area of developmental interactions between imperialism and democracy in the imperialist center and periphery has remained unexplored in these as well.

A few writers in this country have published extremely knowledgeable, informative, and honest analyses, exposes, and critiques of US imperialism and the flaws and decay of democracy in the US. Among others, Michael Parenti (4,5) has written extensively on both these subjects, while William Greider, David Wise, and Seymour Hersh (6,7,8) have documented and analyzed the various inherent problems of democracy; its decay and erosion; the highly institutionalized cult of secrecy, deception , and lying to the public by the government leaders and other elites etc., in great depth. In his recent writings, Parenti has discussed the nature of US politico-economic system in terms of strong empire and weak republic. Victor Perlo’s book, Super Profits and Crises: Modern US Capitalism (9) remains one of the most important and informative books ever written on the political economy of US imperialism. However, none of these and other writers on these subjects have examined the dialectical interactions between the US imperialism and democracy in the center and the periphery. This area has remained especially unexplored in relation to the imperialist center, i-e., in the US.

Most people do not even know what imperialism is, much less about its effects on democracy or human nature. They think it is just the military conquest and domination of other nations. They are unaware of the modern economic nature or operations of imperialism, so concisely defined by Lenin as the highest stage of the development of capitalism (10), in which the export of capital, foreign investments, dominance of finance capital, and other older as well as newer neo-colonial methods of exploitation of natural and human resources in the countries of the periphery are deployed for the purpose of maximization of profits and transfer of wealth from the periphery to the imperialist center. Military conquest, regime changes, reestablishment of direct control over the resources of other nations, colonialism etc. are older and antiquated methods of imperialism which the Bush’s OMIC gang is now reviving, starting with Afghanistan and Iraq.

Problems of abnormal and unhealthy psychology are widespread in this society, including in its private and government organizations. Psychologists LaBier (11-14) and Maccoby (15), among others, have done large scale in-depth studies in this connection. LaBier found that under the façade of surface sanity, various types of mental disorders were widespread and that the culture and environment of many large government and private organizations encouraged, nurtured, and rewarded sick attitudes, behavior, motivations, and values. Within these organizations, these are the keys to success in one’s career! National Institute of Mental Health estimated that almost 20 percent of all Americans have a diagnosed mental disorder, with anxiety, substance abuse, and depression being the most common problems (16). The actual incidence of mental disorders in this society is certainly much higher as these estimates only consist of people who have sought help from the mental health system. There are numerous others who suffer from such disorders but have not entered the mental health system. Estimates of people who suffer from work related problems like stress, burnout, acute psychiatric symptoms, as well as from a broad range of work-related values conflicts, malaise, and loss of identity, range as high as 45 percent (17). Indubitably, such massive problems of mental health in society are basically being produced by destructive biosocial regulation of human nature by powerful, complex and combined socio-economico-political, cultural, and mass psychological forces of one-sided, anti-ecological, and anti-human nature science and technology and extremist forms of imperialism and capitalism. And yet, knowledge and information in this area is non-existent. This is the result of extreme forms of classist covert censorship as well as self-censorship, which, in this society, in matters like these, work even more effectively and powerfully than the overt and legalized censorship of some other societies.

In discussing imperialism, I have started from Lenin’s premises as imperialism being the highest stage of the development of capitalism. The focus of Lenin was on the economic nature and processes of imperialism. However, political, cultural, and mass psychological factors and processes of imperialism are also of great importance. It is crucial to identify, analyze, and comprehend these and their evolution at various stages of the development of imperialism. In this rather brief paper, I have tried to present an outline of these interactions and processes.

The basic laws of imperialism-democracy complex:

The following general laws are proposed to be operating in the interactions and processes involving imperialism and democracy in the imperialist center and its periphery:

1. The Law of Inverse Relationship Between the Development of Imperialism and Development of Democracy:

Politically, the highest stage of the development of imperialism manifests itself in the transformation of democracy and democratic institutions into demonocracy and demonocratic institutions, both in the imperialist center and the periphery. The development of imperialism is inversely proportional to the development of democracy in all these countries. In its simplest interpretation, this law means that higher development of imperialism in the imperialist center erodes real democracy in that center as well as in the countries of its periphery. There is an inverse relationship between the development of imperialism and development of real democracy.

In its relationship and interactions with democracy, imperialism is almost always more powerful and dominant and molds democracy and its institutions in its own image, almost always dedemocratizing them. Imperialism is the most powerful enemy of all democracy. As shown elsewhere (2,3), it is also the most powerful enemy of some of the most important parts of human nature and of the integrity of human nature. Objectively, people who support imperialism, under the guise of patriotism or any other slogan, are, in reality, supporting the erosion and destruction of democracy as well as of human nature, including their own. A greater and more sinister folly is hardly imaginable. And yet, a great majority of Americans are conditioned and addicted to that so massively that it must make Pavlov wish in his grave that his theory of conditioned stimulus-response were not correct. But, unfortunately, it is correct. Nowhere one finds such massive confirmation of Pavlov’s theory than in the US, the epitome of Western democracy and imperialism.

When pollution and deformation of mass intellect and soul, of the social mental and spiritual apparatus, reaches a certain threshold, there is no possibility of any real democracy in that society, no matter how the mechanics and formalities of the system are maintained or reformed. When human nature itself becomes demonocratic, it constantly produces and reproduces demonocracy, and not democracy, even though the mechanics and formalities of the system may still maintain the appearance of democracy.

2. The Law of Inverse Relationship Between the Power of Capital and of Human Nature:

Empowerment of capital in a given society is inversely proportional to empowerment of human nature and people in that society. In its simplest interpretation, this law means that the more capital is empowered in a society, the more disempowered human nature and people become.

3. The Law of Mutual Negative Conditioning and Reinforcement of the Imperialist-Capitalist System and Human Nature

Evils, injustices, distortions, and deformations embedded in the politico-economic system and institutions of society constitute powerful social forces which evilize, distort, and deform human nature massively in that society. Conversely, such evilization, distortion, and deformation of human nature maintains, reinforces, and enhances these features in the system and its institutions. This mutual conditioning and reinforcement progressively leads to the development of demonocracy in the advanced capitalist-imperialist societies. That is precisely what has been happening in the US.

As in case of all such laws, these laws work complexly in dialectical ways. There are zigzags and modifications of their operations by various mediating forces and factors. However, ultimately, the results of the operations of these laws conform to their contents.

Thousands of Iraqis have now been slaughtered and injured in this new imperialist aggression, including numerous women and children. The whole fabric of Iraqi society has been torn apart. An American imperialist-colonialist dictatorship is being set up, under the control of a well-known anti-Arab and pro-Israeli retired US military general. At the same time, they are planning to prepare conditions when they can place their pet puppets in control of Iraq, like they did in Afghanistan. Besides other things, Bush and his OMIC gang will now free Iraqis from the free health care and free education that they were entitled to under Saddam Hussain’s government. According to recent studies, more than 75 million people in the US are without health insurance – more than a fourth of the population – about double the government’s figures of 40 million. What a shining example of democracy for the Iraqi people and rest of the world!

The US is starting the 21st Century with the worst type of colonialism, imperialism, and fascism imaginable. On the other hand, Iraqi struggle against this US-UK imperialism constitutes the first major national liberation struggle and resistance of the 21st Century.

Appendix

Re: Sin, evil and evilization: These terms have been used in this paper to describe actions and policies that are against justice, truth, goodness, beauty, peace, love, compassion, spirit, soul, ecology of nature and of human nature etc. As such, these words may be interpreted both in religious and secular terms.

Re: Human nature: Human nature consists of contradictory and opposite parts. In this paper, the erosive and destructive effects of biosocial and politico-economic forces of imperialism etc. on human nature are in reference to the positive parts of human nature. The same forces have activating and developmental effects on the negative parts of human nature.

Re: Language of the paper: It is consciously holistic. In social sciences, it is most important to include spiritual, emotional, ethical and other such categories to describe social and human phenomena. These are some of the most important parts of human and social reality and purging them from the methodology and language, dealing with this reality and its components, purges and excludes these most important contents from investigation and discourse. Such purging is systematic in modern social “sciences” and constitutes the Great Distortion of Knowledge in these, in the service of the powers that be.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are going to be far greater quagmire for the US and its allies than Iraq. Obama is surpassing even Bush in hypocricy and militarism.
