Letting IMC netowrk know about the Sheila McKechnie Awards. Short run down of what the awards are about and how to apply for them.

WE WANT TO HELP YOU CHANGE YOUR WORLD
The Sheila McKechnie Foundation was formed to encourage and support the next generation of campaigners, people who are increasingly setting the agenda for governments around the world and making a real impact on society.
Campaigners need the right skills to be effective. We can help you forge tactics, build alliances and develop the strategy to deliver the change.
We have now opened applications to our awards scheme. Our awards are for people who can show they have campaigning potential but who could benefit from additional support and guidance. The winners of our awards will receive a tailored package of training, advice and support specific to their campaign.
This year we have given a campaigner on Zimbabwe the opportunity to meet Hilary Benn, the International Development Secretary. A woman leading a campaign for a peace settlement between Palestinians and Israel has been mentored by a former Foreign Office Special Adviser. All our 2006 award winners have received training on campaign planning skills from the Director of Communications at one of Britain’s largest campaigning charities.

The SMF has access to a wealth of talent from experienced campaigners and I have been inspired and motivated by the people I have met since winning the award. I would encourage anyone currently involved in campaigning to get involved with the awards. – Emily Robinson.
