Gay rights activists today demanded the resignation of communities minister Ruth Kelly.

They are furious about claims that Ms Ruth Kelly, who is a member of the controversial Catholic group Opus Dei, has delayed legislation that would outlaw discrimination against gay people.

Kelly has confirmed the Tony Blair has joined Opus Dei but she said she was having some trouble getting him to obey the rules.

Kelly is resisting a law which would ban Opus Dei members from hotel rooms as they leave the place full of blood from their whippings.

She said “We always clean it up”
