Indymedia 'consultation' - what do YOU think?

Notts Indymedia person | 16.10.2006 13:12 | Indymedia

Some people from the Notts Indymedia collective will attend a national UK Indymedia network meeting in London on 4-5 November. Please comment on the agenda and come up with some ideas and suggestions. What do you think of the site, the way it looks and works? How about the UK Indymedia website? Have you got an idea to bring to the network? Let us know and we'll take it on board.

Issues that will be discussed:

- Personal details:

What is or should be our policy on the publication of personal details / addresses on the newswire or comments? (legal and moral aspects)

- Website:

Nonlinear Startpage - Making changes to the startpages of the UK and some regional sites. See examples of Belgium Indymedia and San Francisco Indymedia:

Promoted Newswire

How is the promoted newswire on UK working out? Should the promoted wire become the default? What guidelines are people working to when deciding what to promote? How does or can this feature relate to the regional sites?

see  http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/UkPromotedNewswire for a start

Other press/blogs

What to do about the increasing number of blog posts or blog adverts being posted on the newswire? What should we do with non-corporate reposts? Do we want a RSS driven blog wire or a seperate topic?

RSS feeds  http://knowledgelab.org.uk/wiki/FeedbackLab2

- UK-regions relationship:

Inactive kollectives/new kollectives such as West Country and Wales.

Lack of features on regional sites - see also moves by London and WestCountry? to adopt and automated from page central column made up of promoted newswire items.

Syndication of regional features on UK newswire - Oxford once suggested that the UK site should be a syndication of all the regional sites...
