Autonomous Study Project (ASP)

asp | 07.10.2006 00:19 | Cambridge

The first post-holiday meeting of the Autonomous Study Project, will be
Tuesday, October 10th, 8 pm in S15 of Pembroke college.

We will be discussing the "Temporary Autonomous Zone" (TAZ) by Hakim Bey. A
copy of the essay, along with more details of the meeting is available at
 http://www.cambridgeaction.net/asp/schedule

The Autonomous Study Group studies topics connected with various social
struggles both locally and around the world. We try to build a supportive,
dynamic environment, where people can study the topics that interest them.

Suggesting reading for the year ranges from radical geography (Non-Places:
Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity) to technology issues
(The Hacker Manifesto). What we read will depend on the interests of those
present, so feel free to come along with suggestions. The nature of the
group is defined by us.

We also attempt to produce useful resources in a manner which is connected
to social activism and grassroots organizing, and helps build alternatives
to current political structures. As a long term goal, we are forming a think
tank in Cambridge connecting various members of the Cambridge community.
