Justice For Cammell Laird

GMB | 05.10.2006 17:41 | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | Liverpool

In 1984, thirty seven GMB members were jailed for a month for contempt of Court for participating in a lawful, legitimate dispute at the Cammell Laird Shipyard, Birkenhead, Merseyside. Since then our members have fought for justice for Cammell Laird workers.

GMB Annual Congress 2006 in Blackpool recognised our members' struggle and agreed to support our members in their fight for justice. GMB is calling for a Government enquiry to look into the events of 1984 and to address wrongs that were perpetrated by the then Tory Government.
