Great strides made

Major progress has been made on the Olympic Park site, including the announcement of the 2012 Delivery Partner.

Great strides made for Olympic Park

The CLM consortium was officially named as the Delivery Partner on 15 September, after an intensive 18 week process. CLM will work alongside the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), project managing the process of delivering the Olympic Park for 2012.

Also this month, the ODA took control of planning powers over the Olympic Park site, another key step enabling the Park to be developed on time and to budget.

Headed by the ODA's Lorraine Baldry, the ODA Planning Committee includes members of each of the Host Boroughs and will take the decision on all planning applications made for the Olympic Park site area.

Further progress came with the announcement of the '2-4-1' Olympic Park Delivery Programme: two years for the preparation of the site, four years to build the venues and a year for testing ahead of the Games.

Finally, the major tender for the centre-piece Olympic Stadium was also announced, with teams asked to combine design with construction in their pitch for the work.

ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: "Detailed planning now is worth its weight in gold further down the track.

"We have a timetable that is challenging but achievable and one that will require a relentless focus on delivery, timely decision-making and sound project management over the next six years."
