Where is All the Wealth Going?

Dieter Klein | 27.09.2006 17:21 | Globalisation | World

The produced wealth is concentrated in the hands of a small elite.. The downside of this concentration of wealth is absolute poverty, hunger and disease.. The material wealth in the western world is sufficient to meet the financial obligations to the South.

The mistake is in attaching the to the artifact "wealth" the reality properly placed on "things" which have material existence.

The THINGS possesed by the "West" dvided fairly among the 6 billion humans of the Earth would NOT suffice to gove all of us a decent life. Nor is SUSTAINABLE production going to take care of us all. Once we humans are forced (with the exhaustion of the fossil resources, fossil water as well as fossil fuel) to "live within our means" we will be faced with sad reality.

LOOK -- I understand well enough. We ARE unfair with distribution of what exists. We DO need to address that problem. But it will NOT be enough. To say that "it must", to have a "belief" such as "social injustice causes ALL possible human problems", to believe that a few loaves and a few fishes IF DIVIDED FAIRLY will feed a multutide no matter how great is a touching faith. But that's what it is, "fath" or "religion", not material reality.

Look folks -- this is the UK site. Now take an HONEST look, not at the poor "South" but at yourselves. Do you seriously believe that once we humans are forced to live sustainably that YOUR island is going to be capable of supporting anything like your current population density? So by all means eliminate social inequity (the fairness of distribution affects what population CAN be supported) but if you don't also address population .............
