Shell were blocked once again this morning as they tried to resume work on the disputed Corrib Gas project.
Hundreds of locals turned out in the early hours of this morning to blockade the proposed refinery site.
Their blockade was met with Irish police attempts to remove them and allow the workers to enter the site-attempts which proved futile.
The Shell to Sea campaigners had been expecting some action by Shell as the numbers of Police and private security in the area had been stepped up in recent days as well as the reintroduction of cops filming the protesters at their headquarters at Ballinaboy.
