Perhaps a couple of thousand folks, turned out to support the health service workers in their continued
fight to keep nursing and ancillary service jobs from the axe. The demonstration called by Unison and
the RCN, supported by many other trade unionest, supports and patients, [after all, the end uses of the
service], marched from the Forest Ground, into the city, and onto a rally at the Albert Hall, where they
listened to assorted speakers on the issues of concern.

Keep Nurses Working Keep Patients Safe Petition from the RCN:
We the undersigned call on Tony Blair to:
Halt the short term fix of service cuts and redundancy and to implement a long term deficits recovery
programme.
Acknowledge that deficits are not simply the result of problems at the local level but that central
government policies and reforms have also played their part.
Please sign at: http://www.rcn.org.uk/petition
It will be delivered to Downing Street on the 9th October.
