This Saturday saw another march through Brighton City centre in another attempt to get the local arms factory EDO MBM kicked out of the City. Protesters were treated to a large police presence, as Sussex police attempted to stamp out democracy on the streets.
The march was blocked from proceeding to the Town Hall to hand in a petition. The police proceeded to shove people back onto the pavements (so as to assure our own safety?). A stand off developed untill Cllr Keith Taylor came out and meet the crowd and pledged Green Party support for the campaign. After he agreed to take our petition to the council, it was off to the pub complte with our own police escort in tow.
Local people were left puzzled as to why there were so many police present, having thought there to be a shortage due to the time it takes to get them to turn up when you need them for something.

there was also a great moment of comedy value when the march was heading down towards the seafront and some yuppie twat started yelling abuse from his £500,000 penthouse appartment, only to be met with a chorus of 'get a job!' from the unruly mob. when he started to shout "fucking come on then!" in an admirable attempt to start a fight with 200+ people from a first floor balcony, the cops moved in and told him to go back inside. its always nice for a bit of class war to rear its head.
