Callout to Set up the Climate Camp

climatecamp | 24.08.2006 15:18 | Climate Camp 2006 | Climate Chaos

The site is relatively secure, and over a hundred activists have been putting together some of the infrastructure for the camp. And sleeping, a bit. More are needed to get everything ready for the opening on Saturday.

Activists entered the site in the small hours, and promtply secured it with a two-storey tripod to resist any potential eviction, although in the event it was hours before the police arrived.

Construction work continues: loos are being built, marquees put up, fire lanes marked, etc. etc.. But more help is urgently needed. With hundreds of people expected to arrive on Saturday for the beginning of the workshops programme, all help will be greatly appreciated!

The site is in a fantastic location, close to the prime target of Thursday's 'Reclaim Power' day of action

For more information, see  http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/callout.htm and  http://www.climatecamp.org.uk/location.htm for details of how to get there.

Recycling

What measures are being put into place to recycle all the waste that this camp will produce. There will be an awful lot of plastic and other nonbiodegradable waste that needs specialist treatment. Has the local council been contacted so that we can place plastic / glass and other waste in the apppropriate bin?
