Rights are Wrong

A short rant about Police tactics and freedom

Not long ago I came across some police officers pushing a girl around because she was trying to explain to them that her boy friend was not the person they had been called for.The part that got me most was her being ordered to go home or she would be arrested. Are we under martial law?Are we all on a curfew we have not been told about? You can see this happening on all of those police action "shows"on tv.Can we be arrested for it?You betcha we can.Though it would be an illegal arrest, unlawful. If you refuse to "go home"you will no doubt be arrested under section 5 public order. And unless you specifically instruct a solicitor to challenge the legality of your arrest you will be convicted for it. From the information i have most solicitors are apathetic and advise a guilty plea. This slow ponderous erosion of rights and liberties is being taken laying down.Too many people seem to be afraid to stand up for their rights. The police and the public seem to have forgotten that the police are there to serve the public and not harrass them. Some weeks ago i read an article in a local newspaper from a uk city about a pensioner who had wrote in commenting about "those police who drive around in a big van mob handed"They glare out at everyone and if you look back at them they jump out and give you the third degree.I have noticed that myself. And i do avoid looking back as i am very aware,by some instinct, that it would provoke that response.Am i,and that pensioner alone in feeling this?Somehow i don't think so.When i was a kid we often saw the local drunk with his arm around a lamp post and the other in the air singing. No one was bothered about it and he would.nt be arrested for it nor ordered home.
