Sheffield Protests: Israel out of Lebanon and Gaza – Don't Attack Syria or Iran

C | 19.08.2006 21:34 | Lebanon War 2006 | Anti-militarism | Sheffield

Protestors gathered in front of Sheffield City Hall on Saturday 19th August 2006 for a demonstration called by the Sheffield StWC: Israel out of Lebanon and Gaza – Don't Attack Syria or Iran.

The turnout was poor compared to the last two demonstrations:

Perhaps this was because of the "ceasefire", perhaps because people have been terrorised, perhaps because the demonstration wasn't announced in the mosques as the other two were or perhaps it was a combination of all these things.

There were not enough people for a march and after some speaches kids shoes were laied at the foot of the war memorial and there was a minutes silence.

Sounds like Israel killed more kids in the Lebanon than Hezbollah did with their rocket attacks on Israel. Maybe that's why protests like this happen: to support those who are getting the worst deal out of all this shit.

Also, well done to Liverpool for knocking out the Israeli side last night. Israel should be forced to play continental club football against Asian countries. Israel is not in Europe!
