Scare the people.

Scarlett's WMD are back

Scare the people
Scare the people

Scarlett’s WMD back

Goebbels working overtime.

It’s time to scare the people.

They can’t be allowed to watch the slaughter in Lebanon or to recall Parliament.

Get the phantom bombers out and put them on every plane.

Disrupt everyone travelling.

That should do the trick.

It usually does.

"Voice of Reason"? Hardly - the original poster is spot on

Too many people are anti-Blair, anti-Israeli war, anti-Government. Quick, distract them! Preferably by making them frightened enough to shut up and stop getting in our way. We have work to do.

Funny how these "terrorists" never EVER make attempts on the lives of the people who are actually in power, actually responsible. Funny how it's always ALWAYS ordinary people who are "terrorised" by these "terrorists". I'm an ardent pacifist, but if I was a so-called fundamentalist who used violence to make a point, surely I'd be more likely to aim at the centres of power and corruption, not holidaymakers or tube passengers or indeed any lowly wage slaves?

And notice how the word "Muslim" is on everyone's lips despite no official announcement (yet) that there is any connection. Great work, government PR professionals.

How many false "terror" flags do you need before you recognise that it's all part of the game?

" “Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play"

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
Joseph Goebbels

"Once a government resorts to terror against its own population to get what it wants, it must keep using terror against its own population to get what it wants. A government that terrorizes its own people can never stop. If such a government ever lets the fear subside and rational thought return to the populace, that government is finished."
--Michael Rivero

---------------

Scotland Yard today announced that a plot to explode up to 10 planes on route from the UK to the US has been foiled by police.

Reports have suggested that the plan involved detonating explosive devices, disguised as liquids, smuggled on aircraft in hand luggage. Airports are said to be banning all such products - including baby milk hair gel and beverages - from being taken on to planes.

Police are said to have arrested about 18 people in the London area after an anti-terrorist operation lasting several months.

MI5 has raised the UK threat level to Critical - the highest possible, while the US has raised its threat level to High.

British Home Secretary John Reid described the plot as "very significant" adding that that it had apparently been a plot "to bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions causing a considerable loss of life".

The news sent stocks in London tumbling at the start with airlines British Airways and easyJet, tour operator MyTravel and hotel giant InterContinental all heading sharply lower.

Prime Minister Tony Blair, on holiday in the Caribbean, is said to have been "in constant touch" and briefed US President George Bush on the situation throughout the night.

Alternatively people could wake up to the fact that most (all?) the "terror terror terror" scares are fabricated, like these:

Let's get together, voice of reason..

I'm sure you could have predicted what the response on this site would be - ring the bell and the dogs start salivating. I'm sure half the people in here are having a laugh (the rest, obviously being "spooks" and "trolls").

To call them paranoid hardly seems to do them justice.

We can get censored together in this nice gray bit.

Bit dark, isn't it?

Tommy Gun

Tommy gun – you ain’t happy ‘less you got one
Tommy gun – ain’t gonna shoot the place up just for fun
Maybe he wants to die for his country
Maybe he wants to kill for his country
Whatever he wants, he’s gonna get it

Tommy gun – you better strip down for a customs run
Tommy gun – waiting at the airport ‘till Kingdom Come
An’ we can watch you make it on the nine o’clock news
Standing there in Palestine lighting the fuse
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it

Tommy gun
Tommy gun

Tommy gun – a-you’ll be dead when your war is won
Tommy gun – but did you have to gun down everyone?
I can see its kill or be killed
A nation of destiny has got to be fulfilled
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it

Tommy gun – a-you can be hero in an age of none
Tommy gun – I’m cutting out your picture from page one
I’m gonna a get a jacket just like yours
An’ give my false support to your cause
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it
All right!

Okay, so let’s agree about the price
An’ make it one jet airliner for ten prisoners

Boats and tanks and planes, it's your game
Kings and Queens and Generals, learn your name
I see all the innocents, the human sacrifice
And if death comes so cheap, then the same goes for life

Inconceivable foes

10.08.2006 12:04

"Such a perfect democracy constructs its own inconceivable foe, terrorism. Its wish is to be judged by its enemies rather than by its results. The story of terrorism is written by the state and it is therefore highly instructive. The spectators must certainly never know everything about terrorism, but they must always know enough to convince them that, compared with terrorism, everything else must be acceptable, or in any case more rational and democratic." Guy Debord in 'Comments on the Society of the Spectacle' (1988)

Here's a thought..

10.08.2006 13:30

Maybe this should be adopted as the Indymedia anthem..seems kind of appropriate

Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it
Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid

I'm just stoned
I went to a shrink
To analyse my dreams
She says it's lack of sex that's bringing me down
I went to a whore
She said my life's a bore
And quit my whining cause it's bringing her down
Sometimes I give myself the creeps

Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid
I'm just stoned
Grasping to control
So I'll better hold on

Sometimes I give myself the creeps
Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
It all keeps adding up
I think I'm cracking up
Am I just paranoid
I'm just stoned

Black Sabbath
Black Sabbath

What is this that stands before me
Figure in black which points at me
Turn round quick and start to run
Find out Im the chosen one

Oh, no

Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan sitting there, he's smiling
Watches those flame get higher and higher

Oh, god--please help me
Oh, no--no

Child cries out for its mother
Mother screaming in the fire
Satan points at me again
Opens the door to push me in

Oh, no
Oh, god

Is it the end my friend
Satans coming round the bend
People running cause they're scared
You people better go and beware

No, no
Please, god--no

The Power of Nightmares - Part I

"Baby, it's cold outside"

In the past our politicians offered us dreams of a better world. Now they promise to protect us from nightmares.

The most frightening of these is the threat of an international terror network. But just as the dreams were not true, neither are these nightmares.

This is a must watch documentary - Broadcast BBC 2 10/20/04 - Written and Produced by Adam Curtis

Part II Here

VO: In the past, politicians promised to create a better world. They had different ways of achieving this. But their power and authority came from the optimistic visions they offered to their people. Those dreams failed. And today, people have lost faith in ideologies. Increasingly, politicians were seen simply as managers of public life. But now, they have discovered a new role that restores their power and authority. Instead of delivering dreams, politicians now promise to protect us from nightmares. They say that they will rescue us from dreadful dangers that we cannot see and do not understand. And the greatest danger of all is international terrorism. A powerful and sinister network, with sleeper cells in countries across the world. A threat that needs to be fought by a war on terror. But much of this threat is a fantasy, which has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It's a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world, the security services, and the international media.

Fear

10.08.2006 20:48

Sing a song of violence and listen for the sound
All the little soldiers start to come around
Start it with a rumour, a whisper in an ear
Suspicion don't take very long before it turns to fear
They don't need a reason, they don't want to know
Who or what they're fighting, just tell them where to go
Give the chance of glory, give the chance of fame
Give the boy an enemy, give the dog a name
Keep the factions fighting, start them off the school
Keep the factions fighting so you divide and rule
Football teams are splendid and fashion just a tool
Keep the factions fighting so you divide and rule
