You’re at home one evening and an armed convoy rolls into town. Soldiers arrest you and your family, and everybody else – the whole town. They allow you to pack one suitcase each; load you all into trucks; machine-gun all your livestock and pets; burn your house and contents; and a few days later deposit you on a street-corner in a slum in Mexico City. They inform you that the U.S. Government needs your town for a military base, and that the Border Patrol, Immigration Service, and Coast Guard have been ordered to prevent your return to the States, and by force if you insist.

Thanks for the link - yet again we find blood and privation stain the hands of those who offer (er, actually, enforce) "liberty" and "freedom", "accountability" and "transparency", to other sovereign nations, especially those nations needing "development".

The leaders who claim to represent the country need to be held accountable - they have refused to be accountable to their own people, they have changed or ignored (and flatly broken) many laws to suit their own agendas, and the media have been derelict in their duty to play Devil's Advocate. The ultimate irony in this regard is that Blair has been offered a seat on the board of Murdoch's empire!! Anyway, the media generally is a toothless slut giving corporate blowjobs.

So, what weight can the enforcement of these breaches hope to muster and from whom?
