Hands off Lebanon, Freedom for Palestine

Urgent Protest 5pm, Thursday 3rd August at Sheffield Town Hall

Sheffield Stop the War Coalition, along with the Sheffield Palestine
Solidarity Campaign and the Sheffield branch of the Muslim Association of
Britain, have called an urgent protest against the barbaric actions of the
Israeli state against the Lebanese and Palestinian people and also to
protest Tony Blair's complicity in the situation. There doesn't appear to be
any hope of an end to the crisis whilst Britain and the US block global
efforts for an immediate ceasefire and Israel refuses to stop its invasion
until it has completely destroyed Lebanon.

However the Tony Blair and US foreign policy is at odds with what most
right-thinking people believe. His cabinet is in open revolt public opinion
is overwhelmingly against Blair.

Help us keep up the pressure! Please bring family, friends, kids, trade
union banners, anti-war banners, home-made placards, whatever you can as we
need to make as big and bold a statement as we can.

Please no Hezbollah cheerleaders on the protest

i hope there are no "we are all Hezbollah banners' on the demo, why won't Sheffield STW denounce the Hezbollah rockets into Israel as well as the obscene destruction of Lebanaon and Gaza. Persoanlly, i realy don't feel comfortable on these marches anymore, even leaving aside who is organising them.

too true

i fully agree sheffgirl,
sadly this is the hallmark of extreme leftist activistism.a lack of clarity and consistancy.the notion that IRA,hamas,Hezbollah,Al-Qaeda and the like are anything other than terrorists and should be condemed as such is not something the STWC coalition wish to state with as much vigor as they denounce the imperialist foreign policy of the USA and Britain's lap dog status in the world.many of the so called leftwing Intelligentsia prefereing to justify these terrorist groups actions as those of "freedom fighters".infact some of them would denounce me and my inability to spell before they said a word against the terrorists.
final word here the israeli attacks on Lebanon are an outrage and furthermore the response from the British government another disgraceful example of its willingness to go along with any US backed act of aggression regardless of other factors other than "what american wants she gets" whatever the cost in human life.......depressing.

Make some placards and banners with some decent slogans, bring them down -- most people probably agree that the SWP slogans suck, the only reason people end up carrying them is because there are no others on offer...
