The nuclear-powered submarine HMS Tireless is arriving in Southampton on Monday 31 July and staying till Friday. This is the sub which spent nearly a year in Gibralter for emergency repairs to its reactor coolant system in 2000. SCANS (Solent Coalition Against Nuclear Ships) is urging people to come to these demonstrations:
Monday 31 July at 2 pm outside Dock Gate 4 (or if allowed further inside to berth 38/39 where the sub will be. This is the QE2 terminal near Ocean Village). The Daily Echo will be there at 2.30 pm to do their official story, including that local Sea Scouts and Duke of Edinburgh Award young people will be allowed on board.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 5-6pm vigil outside the Civic Centre.
Bring placards and banners. No nuclear reactors in the heart of our city!
