THE £1000 THREE-LEGGED CELEBRITY IMPERSONATOR RACE

Controversial artist Mark McGowan is to race six hard up, poor and debt ridden artists/students over a 12 mile circuit around London in a three-legged race with a prize fund of £1,000 to the winners, the event is being sponsored by the financial conglomerate Bloombergs.

Controversial artist Mark McGowan is to race six hard up, poor and debt ridden artists/students over a 12 mile circuit around London in a three-legged race with a prize fund of £1,000 to the winners, the event is being sponsored by the financial conglomerate Bloombergs.
The six contestants will be dressed as celebrities, celebrities more infamous than famous, the pairings are:
Abu “The Hook" Hamsa and Charlotte Church
George Bush and Gary Glitter
Wayne Rooney and Camilla Parker Bowles
The art project is intended to raise awareness about debt and people’s desperate need for money and the lengths some people will go.
McGowan say’s,
“I am going to show them the money in cash at the start of the race, so they can smell it, I might even let them touch it, in the hope that they might hop even faster and present us all with a spectactular race. This piece is based on the film They shoot horses dont they where people danced for days in a danceathon in the hope of winning some prize money.."
The three-legged hopping race is spread out over three days.
Sacha Craddock, art critic and television celebrity will sound a claxon to start the race.
Day 1.... Peckham Square, Camberwell, Walworth Road, Elephant and finshes on Lambeth Bridge with multi coloured bunting.
Day 2.... Horseferry Road, through Victoria, round the back of Buckingham Palace, up Park Lane, down Oxford Street.
Day 3....Holborn, Clerkenwell, Old Street, finish at Bloomberg's offices in Finsbury Square.
The last 200 metres will include a time trail with extra bonus points.
The winners will get the £1, 000 in cash and a cup.
Mark McGowan is the race organiser.
The event takes place on the 2,3 and 4 Aug 2006 and starts at 10am Wednesday 2nd of August 2006 from Peckham Square, just in front of the library
and hopefully finshes at 7pm Friday 4th Aug 2006.
