Between May 3 and May 5, 2006, several summits and an "International Conference for Inner Security" took place in Vienna. This initiative of the Austrian EU-council-presidency assembled high-ranking political deputies, police representatives from more than 50 countries and various international organisations. Together, they were developing strategies in order to impair people's rights while at the same time trying to safeguard wealthy societies...

During the Austrian EU presidency 2006, the walls of fortress europe have been brought up. Now the Finish government take over this job and further steps in developing the racist european mogration policy are already done. For example during the euro-african Ministerial Conference on Migration and Developement which take place on 10 and 11 July 2006 in Rabat, Morocco.
Statewatch wrote about "the fallacies of the EU-Africa dialogue on immigration": "it appears as good a time as any to highlight the dramatic consequences that cooperation in this field, which the conference seeks to strengthen, is causing on the ground in north African countries, and in terms of political discourse on both shores of the Mediterranean."
