!!!Act now to save Stag Works!!!

Hot on the heels of the proposed development of the General Cemetary is a planning application that has been submitted to build two 5/6 storey blocks of flats, containing 299 bedrooms right next door to Stag Works on John Street in Sheffield. Stag Works is used 24 hours a day by bands and artists to make amazing music, yet the planning application makes no provision for acoustic protection.

Next they'll be privatising the air that we breathe!

If this application goes through, new residents only have to complain about the noise, and, as no proviso was made in the original plan, Stag Works will be shut down. This has happened at Kenilworth Works just around the corner.

Stag Works is one of the most important buildings in this city for music and for independent culture. For those who don't know it, bands who've made their homes there in the past include Autechre, All Seeing I, The Longpigs, Fat Truckers, and of course Def Leppard (ouch). Currently, Stag is the HQ of Hiem, Pink Grease, 65Days amongst others, whilst Alan Smythe's studio 2Fly has produced tracks for Arctic Monkeys and the Long Blondes.

It is really important to take five minutes to register your comments with the council, because then they HAVE to listen.
