Refugees in Lebanon
Prajna Pranab | 22.07.2006 10:46 | Lebanon War 2006 | Anti-militarism | Repression
They are refugees,
but there is no refuge in this war.
The Lebanese will be hunted down
as their brothers,
the Palestinians,
were before.
Israel has given them a choice:
you can be
a refugee or terrorist
and in a sick and sordid twist
Bush has already said
the phrase that means
'we want you dead,'
that means 'you have no choice
but run or fight'.
You get the gist:
You're not with us
so you must be a terrorist.
No atrocity is too great -
white phosphorus, banned,
this year's napalm -
to express the greed for power
and hate.
Anything to instill the fear
of which Dahr Jamail wrote
'wary with the aimless stare.'
What can we do?
Go out and vote?
but there is no refuge in this war.
