Asylum seeking children in the UK are particularly hard hit by the UK’s draconian immigration policy.
• Around 2000 children are imprisoned in detention centres each year – some for up to 9 months
• Many unaccompanied children seeking asylum live in inappropriate placements with no adult to care for them.
• Many are not receiving adequate support
• On reaching 18 young people may be sent back to their countries of origin despite having no more connections there.

WORKSHOPS
• The Law on young people and those reaching 18
• Social and Health needs, policy and provision
• Children in detention
• Campaigning for young asylum seekers’ rights - with Channel 4 film on unaccompanied minors reaching 18
