G8 summit in St. Petersburg:

Hello
I've done a some work on the feature startx started for the coverage of
this year's G8 summit in St. Petersburg:
http://publish.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/07/344225.html
What i've done is:
- Changed a bit the text and structure of the feature, so it is more
compact and it takes slightly less space in the front page. Added a few
more links and moved some of the content into the abstract box.
- Changed main pic so it shows that the feature is being continuously
updated. This should be done quite regularly whilst covering the
summit, as it is a way to tell people it is being worked on.
- I've started a 'Latest Updates' section inside the content box. This
is with info and reports found in the ru.indymedia (multilingual) site,
as well as in imc-uk wires.
Now, I'd like to propose to do the coverage of this Summit all in one
single feature (unless something mega-massive happens). This is mainly
because the Russian indy multilanguage site is actually working quite
nicely, and it is being updated quite often. Besides it has most of the
info and updates in english anyway.
What I propose is to get the highlights of the day's mobilisations and
events and put them in the 'Latest Updates' section of our feature. I
know we normally do a different feature for every day of action whilst
stuff is happening, but I don't think there's a need to replicate the
same as people are already doing (pretty well imo) in the ru.indymedia
miultilingual site. Visitors and regulars checking the uk site, can get
the highlights and an overview of what's going on in our feature, and
then check the russian site to get into more detail if they wish to do
so.
I can be on the case for this today, tomorrow thursday and a bit on
friday, so I can update this feature till then. But I won't be around
on saturday and sunday (well i can be a bit on sunday late
morning/early noon actually) So if there are people that can check
http://ru.indymedia.org/int/ and the wires for latest reports, and then
update our feature during sat and sun it would be great.
Also (and to finish :-)
I'd like to propose the short feature below as start page special to
replace the one up now about the film screenings. This is basically a
short feat that aims to work as a 'quick links' sort of thing that
takes people to the main sites and resources with info about this G8. I
propose it to go up on Friday 14th morning and stay up till Monday 17th
night.
Ok, thats all .. cheers
