Comedy Drama Writers Wanted

Not-for-profit political satire comedy musical theatre specialists the Yorkshire-based Komedy Kollective, ( http://www.komedykollective.com), are seeking enthusiastic comedy writers to get involved in the creation and development of their riotously absurd musical Restart (first tested as a short play in Studio Salford), a comedy product satirising the likes of Tony Blair, the threats to civil liberty, identity cards, globalised capitalism, and the totalitarian fear machine, the fabled "War On Terror", with the trials and tribulations of a fictional government seeking re-election.

Being Yorkshiremen (sorry!!!), our play set partly in Manchester and partly in Westminister, we are dead keen to get more comedy or playwriters involved from the North West, particularly the Manchester area, so we can thus shape Restart into the subversive, hard-hitting vehicle of allegorical satire that will make comedy a force to be reckoned with by politicians and government leaders, alike. This ain't no disposable fringe production, as we are seeking large performance venues, with an extensive cast of performers.

Our aims aren't merely political. Komedy Kollective strive to introduce the world live performance art to young adults, many of whom wouldn't normally be seen dead in a theatre, because of high ticket prices, and the topical irrelevance of many stage productions.

Restart, however, will be a big stage musical with a difference, blending dark influences from the League of Gentlemen, and Monty Python, cult horror flicks, kick-ass music, and slapstick routines, once seen, will be with you for the rest of your life.

It contains singalong songs that once heard, you won't get out of your head, plus musically, something from everyone, from indie to house, to drum and bass, skateboarders, and hip hop, with sea shanties thrown into the mix, just for the sheer hell of it.

With razor-sharp wit, a strange and wonderful array of jobcentre employees and clients, a mad professor, plenty of schlockfest blood and gore, circus-style mayhem, and plenty of visual affects to make you cringe and giggle, simultaneously, this is your chance to help creatively develop a cult show that will be performed for many years to come, perhaps, the next Rocky Horror Show.

Mad, chaotic, and non-disposable, even if we can't make theatre accessible for all, if we can subvert the cosy, big money world of corporate drama with allegorical mayhem, the battle is all but won.

Komedy Kollective Theatre are an non-profit making amalgam of comedywriters and performers. It doesn't matter what age you are, how many qualifications you've got, or how much knowledge or experience you have of the comedy world. Enthusiam is the only necessity, for this groundbreakingly abdurdist theatrical creation.
