NEW YORK The Washington Post has obtained a cable, marked "sensitive," that it says show that just before President Bush left on a surprise trip last Monday to the Green Zone in Baghdad for an upbeat assessment of the situation there, "the U.S. Embassy in Iraq painted a starkly different portrait of increasing danger and hardship faced by its Iraqi employees."

This cable outlines, the Post reported Sunday, "the daily-worsening conditions for those who live outside the heavily guarded international zone: harassment, threats and the employees' constant fears that their neighbors will discover they work for the U.S. government."

(...)

--The cable concludes that employees' "personal fears are reinforcing divisive sectarian or ethnic channels, despite talk of reconciliation by officials."

The final line is: KHALILZAD

I challenge anyone who after reading the memo says we are doing the right thing remaining in Iraq.

From the Embassy, a Grim Report

This is the text of the Washington Post article and attached is the document it refers to.

From the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, a stark compendium of its local employees' daily hardships and pressing fears

Sunday, June 18, 2006; Page B01

Hours before President Bush left on a surprise trip last Monday to the Green Zone in Baghdad for an upbeat assessment of the situation there, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq painted a starkly different portrait of increasing danger and hardship faced by its Iraqi employees. This cable, marked "sensitive" and obtained by The Washington Post, outlines in spare prose the daily-worsening conditions for those who live outside the heavily guarded international zone: harassment, threats and the employees' constant fears that their neighbors will discover they work for the U.S. government.

How many times must we prove Blair to be evil, before acting to stop him?

19.06.2006 21:53

What's the point? Those of us that know the truth about Iraq hardly need more proof (or perhaps you think you are going to fly off the Earth, unless you get daily proof that gravity exists?). Those that don't know or care will carry on soaking up the lies propagated by the mass media.

Iraq is a done deal. It is Blair's stepping stone to war with Iran, and that stone is serving its purpose perfectly. The terror that befalls the poor people of Iraq is at best, a means to an end for Blair, and otherwise is of no concern to him whatsoever.

In truth, even with 500,000+ Iraqis dead as a direct consequence of Blair's invasion, and millions dead as a direct result of the sanctions that Blair kept in place using faked evidence, Iraqis haven't even begun to experience true suffering. Blair's coming genocide of Iran is designed to create a level of ethnic warfare to totally destroy civilised life in the whole area. Hell will encompass all areas that the active oil-fields don't.

I understand that some people think that publicity given to the so-called US problems in Iraq may help political opposition in the US against the Iran attack. In a simplistic way, this is true. However, at a higher level, the thought is deadly when circumstances match times such as the 1930's or now.

Why? Because those responsible for the chaos in Iraq never expected anything better. Indeed, if anything, they consider the current level of chaos to be way better than the worst predictions from before the invasion. So much better, indeed, that Blair's people have to actively intervene to prevent the resistance from seeming more significant than ethnic conflict in Iraq.

Blair's weapon to get his Iran war is called BUILDING MOMENTUM. Aggressive War has no logic that pleases military planners, citizens, or ordinary politicians. Never has, and never will. But Aggressive Warfare has occured on our planet all across Human History. Aggressive War requires NOT the permission of citizens, military planners, or ordinary politicians. Aggressive War requires the overriding will-power of a HUMAN MONSTER.

Blair knows that all objections are merely barriers of differing strengths. Blair understands that at some point, all pretence of argument has to be dropped, and all barriers battered down with the massive momentum that raw power can build, given enough time.

"Regardless of what you think or say, you know we are going to do this, so you may as well support our actions now, to gain the maximum benefit of having been an early supporter."

This is Blair's momentum in its 'word' form. It was the same for Hitler, Mao, Stalin, and every other similar Monster going back through history. Those that are to be convinced by this statement must feel the power of the BUILDING MOMENTUM and be convinced that nothing can stand against it.

The sea of anti-Iran propaganda (especially including regular anti-Iran articles proudly displayed by Indymedia UK from organisations like Outrage!, and mock Iran-dissident groups run by British Intelligence) are a key part of this BUILDING MOMENTUM.

So yes, this memo about life in the Green Zone, and all the stories about US atrocities in Iraq neatly help anti-war activists to distract themselves from the big picture. The big picture is that NO SIMPLE REPORTING ABOUT IRAQ CAN BRING BLAIR DOWN. However, what can destroy Blair is the understanding that this monster began with just the support of just 1-in-5 of the electorate, and even most of those voters would have prefered anyone but Blair to be in charge of the 'New Labour' party, and did NOT support his aggressive war. Now, Blair's actual support is much lower.

Only the mass media stated fantasy of Blair's invunerability keeps Blair in power. Of course, Blair's mass media plays its readers as morons by constantly stating 'jam tomorrow' (or, 'Blair gone by next year'). That this ploy works should be considered astonishing, since in politics, if you are seen as finished at some future date, you are MOST CERTAINLY finished in the present. Successful politicians NEVER leave of their own free will. Taking Blair out is our job, the job of the people. If our will states that Blair is finished, then he would be finished. It is the job of the mass media to ensure that this meme does not become widespread.

It is time to stop TALKING about the criminal acts of Blair, and to start ACTING to apply well understood concepts of Human justice. No serial killer was ever stopped by endless discussion of his crimes. Indeed, after a point, talking can be truly said to represent a refusal to act. The more we refuse to act against Blair, the more powerful he knows we are making him.

Oh, and to return to the memo, the thoughts of evacuation are interesting, given that no one from Iran/Iraq will be considered friendly, once the attack against Iran begins. Instead, Blair will expect mass culling of all sides, until the remnants of the population throw up new stooges from whomever ends up in a dominant position. However, those quislings in Iraq act mainly in the name of the future financial welfare of their direct family. Blair has simply paid these people millions into foreign bank accounts, so that even if the worst happens to the collaborators, the collaborators go to their graves KNOWING they have bought great success and power for their families in the future. It is ONLY if you understand this that you understand why Hitler, Stalin and Blair had/have zero difficulty in finding people that will betray their nation of birth, regardless of the CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY this will allow against the innocent people of that nation. Individuals may die, but the wealth gained for their families by the traitors may well make a difference for many centuries, and no assertion of justice later has the ability to commonly reverse this.
