BRADFORD PALESTINIAN SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN DENIED STALL AT MELA
Sarah Cartin | 15.06.2006 14:51 | Anti-militarism | Repression
The Council have refused Bradford PSC a stall at the Mela on the advice of the Police. They have stated the Mela is a family event but have not given us any reason(s) as to why our stall would be unsuitable or unfamily friendly.
This seems particularly ironic in light of the Palestinian family that was massacred on a Gaza beach last week.
We had planned to have information about the continued illegal occupation by Israel, sell fair trade Palestinian olive oil, t-shirts, cards, give out leaflets about our inaugural event on Saturday 8 th July, and with our friends from Halifax give out leaflets about their inaugural event on 28th June plus launch a Boycott Israeli Goods campaign asking people to fill in postcards we intended to deliver to the HQ of Morrisons Supermarket and give out boycott Catapillar leaflets. Nothing unusual for the Mela.
We have been in contact with Malcolm Veigas, Head of Service (Markets) and Acting Head of Service (Parks & Landscape) offering to meet to address any concerns but he says the decision won't be reversed and he couldn't meet us. We have also contacted MPs Terry Rooney, Marsha Singh, Ann Cryer and leader of the Council "quite good for a Tory" Kris Hopkins.

Firstly you can't understand why your stall is unsuitable for a family event such as this
Secondly your dislike of Jews is so strong your really think you are objecting to Israel
I will pray for you
Not Jewish
