THE RIGHT TO LIVE

via[msdm] | 14.06.2006 08:30 | Culture | Free Spaces | Social Struggles | London

a walk around radical Camberwell
Sunday 25 June 2006
Meet 2pm on Camberwell Green, corner of Camberwell Church St
Free

Initiated by Melissa Bliss & Alex Hodson of the South London Radical
History Group

The walk should last about an hour and a half... it’s interactive: bring your own tales & memories of the area... tales from the struggle for survival and for a better way of life: meet Chartists & artists, strikers & rioters, trade unionists & anti-fascists, squatters & plotters...

Where did the Chartists fight the police in 1848?
What happened when the British National Party stood for election in
1991?
Just who were the League of Socialist Artists?

All these questions and many more will be answered... And other
questions will arise...

This event is part of the Camberwell Arts Festival, 24 June-2 July 2006,
which is organised in partnership with Camberwell Arts, Camberwell
College of Arts and the South London Gallery.
