The Cambridge Recourse Center in Norfolk St used to be the Cambridge Clubhouse until the beginning of this year. It stopped being the clubhouse because of the cuts to mental health service and now provides a lesser service.

The Cambridge Recourse Center in Norfolk St used to be the Cambridge Clubhouse until the beginning of this year. It stopped being the clubhouse because of the cuts to mental health service and now provides a lesser service. The manageress of the clubhouse, Carol Morgan, has become the manageress of the recourse center. She was given the job despite a number of complaints about her, by clubhouse members. Seven members who complained where banned from the clubhouse, as a result of complaining, and are now not allowed to go to the recourse center. None of the members of the clubhouse where consulted about her appointment. The mental health cuts happened despite the government poring millions into the NHS. Instead of psychiatric services improving they have gotten worse. The situation with the clubhouse shows that people with mental health problems are not consulted about how services are provided and the NHS makes its own complaints procedure. The clubhouse was funded solely by the NHS and the NHS employs Carol Morgan, they allowed her to ban people for complaining. One member didn’t bother to complain and he resigned.
