E. Sussex: Stanmer squat festival (and impending eviction) HELP NEEDED

Fancy a day out with the family in a East Sussex country farmhouse?

Come to the Home Farm openhouse in Stanmer village on Saturday 3rd, 11am till roughly 8pm, for bbq, face painting, an art exhibition, games, cinema, local campaign introductions and tons more. Brighton Council wants to turn the old building into posh flats; we say its owned by the community!

Stanmer Village is just outside Brighton. The nearest train station is Falmer. Otherwise take the 25 bus and ask the driver to let you off outside Stanmer Park (from Brighton, the stop before Sussex Uni). You can drive there too, following the 25 route as mentioned above, pass the traffic lights at the end of Moulsecoomb, then follow the bendy road round till there's an offroad to your left. Go into that and follow the road till stanmer village.

The Home Farm openhouse itself is opposite Stanmer church. You shouldnt miss it.

After a series of incredibly dodgy court hearings, the council has won its case to evict the buildings squatters. They have handed over a notice saying that they will do so as of midnight this sunday, so probably the morning of monday. All support very, very welcome throughout this weekend. This is one of those rare occurances where the entire local community supports the squaters right to be there. Unfortunately, because everyone in the 18 house strong stanmer village rents off of the council (the lord who used to own the village gave it to the local community (and therefore the council)) some of the residents are in fear of losing their own contract should they be openly critical of the council. Otherwise they fully support the squat. Come along and join us :-)
