As part of the 1in12 club's 25th anniversary celebrations the club's drama collective is putting on a major new play. An all singing, all dancing, political musical with classic punk songs done in a bollywood style. Who could ask for more?

Love and Petrol
A musical stage play, by Alice Nutter
Music by Harry Hamer, Directed by Tim Dawtry
Priestley Theatre, Bradford, 8pm, 7 – 10 June

Bradford 1981, the God like figure of John Peel narrates this tale of friendship and a community determined to defend itself. Bierley and Manningham are worlds away from each other until Betty and Aayan meet on the dance floor. There are riots in the background but love is at the fore. Set against the tension of the National Front’s threat to attack Manningham and Asian youths determination not to be sitting ducks, Love and Petrol chronicles the pull towards and away from tradition. Packed full of music and mayhem, classic punk songs get the Bollywood treatment in this tragicomedy of family, self-defence and betrayal.

Written by Alice Nutter (formerly of Chumbawamba) who wrote the critically
acclaimed Foxes, directed by Ian Brown, West Yorkshire Playhouse, with music by Harry Hamer of pop band Chumbawamba fame, Love and Petrol is an all singing, all dancing extravaganza that unearths Bradford’s hidden history. Performed by
The 1 in 12 Drama Collective, Love and Petrol is a community play with the production values of a professional production.

Performance Dates: 7, 8, 9, 10 June. 8pm The Auditorium, Priestley Theatre, Chapel St, Bradford.
