The people vs Leeds City Council this Wednesday

Two separate campaigns fighting the Council's undemocratic and ill-thought plans for Little London and Woodhouse will unite on Wednesday in an unprecedented show of strength.

At 12pm this Wednesday, (17 May), Leeds City Council will face the unprecedented wrath of two communities outside its offices as residents of Little London and Woodhouse stage a public lobby against the Council's latest bonkers regeneration plans.

Save Little London campagners will gather to demand that Leeds City Council immediately suspends its privatisation plans for their estate that will see 435 council homes sold off or demolished and hundreds of tenants forced to leave their homes and community.

Friends of Woodhouse Moor will also be there, calling on the Council to put a stop to the LUDICROUS plans to build a short-stay car park on part of Woodhouse Moor despite furious opposition of the local community.

The separate lobbies have been called to pressure the monthly Council Executive meeting (1pm) at which councillors will decide whether to or not to go ahead with both the £85m Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme for Little London, and proceed with the crazy car park.

It is gonna be a media fest - the more people, the more opposition, the more unity across our campaigns, the more likely we can win together.

Campaigners are asking for supporters to come down to Leeds Civic Hall on Wednesday to show their solidarity with the people and their opposition to the Council.
