Mary Sheridan, expecting her baby
in September, will be leading other
pregnant mothers from Dale Farm,
Crays Hill, Essex, at a rally in central
London on Thursday (18 May) protesting
against the threatened bulldozing of their
homes.

They are among a thousand
Travellers in Basildon facing what their
parish priest has called ethnic-cleaning
by a Tory-led Basildon council which has
voted to spend £3 million to level the
Dale Farm community.

The rally (from 10 am) is outside One
Whitehall Place, the old Liberal Club, where
a "Westminster Briefing" on new Government
policy for Gypsies, which includes enforcement,
is taking place.

Wickford Primary Care Trust says children
will inevitably be injured and traumatised if
this eviction is allowed to go ahead.

"We fear a child will be killed", says
Kathleen McCarthy, spokesperson for Dale
Farm and a school governor.
