Stroke and Heart Attack Help

messenger | 10.05.2006 22:50 | Health

Here is some important info that I learned at a CPR training
class.

HEARTATTACK SYMPTOMS -

pain, tingling or numbness in either shoulder or arm
very strong headache
nausea
trouble breathing, like someone's sitting on your chest and sweating
and of course chest pain

STROKE SYMPTOMS -

slurred speech
cannot smile
cannot hold both arms up
confusion

IMPORTANT - If you think you may be having a heartattack, TAKE ONE
ASPIRIN AND CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY

If you think you may be having a stroke, DO NOT TAKE AN ASPIRIN,
that would make it worse. CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY

Getting treatment quickly is VERY IMPORTANT because the damage
from a stroke can be completely eliminated if you get to the hospital
within two hours.

If you dilly dally, and the rescue squad gets there when you're passed
out and not breathing, you only have a one in 100 chance of recovery.
Those are the national stats. I was quite surprised by that, but I have
been watching too much TV. Don't waist any time seeing if it gets
worse......and don't try and drive yourself or your loved one.......
the stats on people dying in auto accidents trying to rush to the
hospital are pretty surprising too.
