Backed by the US and Britain, Israel is trying to starve the Palestinian people into submitting to its plan to seize control over the most fertile parts of the West Bank and incorporate them into an expanded Israeli state. The economic sanctions it has imposed on the Palestinian Authority are already creating widespread hunger. Meanwhile Britain and the US are giving their complete support. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says the British and EU aid will cease until Hamas renounces violence. Not a word about Israeli terror! When a suicide attack kills eight Israelis, it is headline news around the world. Yet in the month of April Israel has:
• Killed at least 26 Palestinians including young children
• Fired hundreds of shells into the north of Gaza

The Hamas government was freely elected by a landslide. Jack Straw however wants this democratic vote overturned. But the Palestinian people want Hamas because it represents their will to resist an illegal occupation. Since Hamas won the election on 25 January, Israeli forces have murdered up to 80 Palestinians, many of whom have been children. Jack Straw has nothing to say about this because he is a racist.

15 May is Nakba day, when Palestinians commemorate the expulsion of 750,000 people from their land, the ethnic cleansing that accompanied the establishment of the Israeli state. Thousands more have died since the start of the latest Intifada. The Labour government has colluded in this terror campaign, colluded in an illegal occupation, and now colludes in the starvation of the Palestinian people. We say this is racism, and that we support the Palestinian peoples struggle for national liberation, justice and democracy. We call for an end to British support for Israel, an end to its arms trade with the Zionists, an end to all economic, political and cultural links.
