Europe Day May 9th.

Politicians and bureaucrats celebrated at VATpayers expense, free Food and Wine for invitees.

Your spy walked in by chance, nearly blew it whan the self congratulations of the Politicians were unendurable and I had to shout 'Liar' in the middle of one speech. Was invited to leave by a large man, I asked his name and he gave one. However, there came a call from the Platform for a person of a different name, and that large man went up to participate, it seems that some have split personalities. He is the Head of our local European Center. Is it a usual disorder brought on by that job?

Another Politician talked about the benefits of twin towns. He said nothing about Councillors having their expenses paid for foreign trips. Spoke as though without town twinning there could be no exchange school visits.

there was a poster showing the local benefits the Council claimed to have gained from Europe.

I looked at what they had done in the Street I live on. A complete botch costing millions of pounds that put more than one enterprise out of business.

Further down the coast they have spent many more millions of VATpayers money on really stupid developments that are going to be flooded out by rising sea, as was becoming obvious over ten years ago, There may be an explanation for their short sightendness. It could be stupidity, but then it might have been an easy source of backhanders. New roads to service properties that the owners can sell off at inflated prices are strong incentives in that direction.

New roads that service properties that are in the front line to be flooded by rising sea levels are simple stupidity on a par with the idiocy of building the Welsh Abbembly building so close to sea level without making it floatable.

Which is of course what should now be a requirement for evey reconstructed house in New Orleans. Bet they do not!

Anyway, there was one shine of honesty. I had shouted "Hear Hear" when someone mentioned the gravy train and official junketting. Some argued with me about that, but when they were sitting scoffing the VATpayer provided feast, did acknowledge the accuracy of the claim.

Politicinas intend to have that sort of celebration every year. And you as a VATpayer are paying for it.

Nothing is done to prepare for the lean years of ecological disaster that the feasting and travel of the bureaucrats and Politicians hired out to the Rich is ensuring. There will be another Europe wide scam over that to line to pockets of the Rich.

I am ticking World for this, but what is needed is a tick for Europe. Indymedia will never get a EU grant without such a tick, which may be a good enough reason not to have one.
