Save Ryton

Eddie Adkins | 07.05.2006 18:27 | Workers' Movements | Birmingham

Dear Friends,

This is a new message please read, thanks. Urgent.

As you will no doubt be aware, Peugeot have announced the closure of the Ryton plant, Coventry UK.

There are a large number of workers, including myself, who
wish to save the plant and their jobs. We need your help and support.

We would like everyone to visit the Peugeot website  http://www.peugeot.fr then goto contact page and send a message "that you drive a Peugeot/Citroen or were about to buy one. However if you were to close the Coventry plant that under no circumstances would you purchase a Peugeot/Citroen ever again or the new 207 and would strongly urge them to keep the Ryton Coventry plant open". Or anything else you may like to put! Please mark it for the attention of Mr Foltz, President, Peugeot Citreon.

Having sent the message. Please forward this e-mail to everyone in your address book, including any foreign contacts, particularly France, Australia and New Zealand ! Asking them to do the same and then to pass it on again etc.etc.

Hopefully this will frighten the peugeot management into reconsidering closing the Ryton Coventry Plant and saving our jobs.

Thankyou on behalf of all Peugeot workers your help is so genuinely appreciated.

Kind regards to you all

Eddie

Cars are very destructive of the environment and for that reason I cannot sympathise. I would ask the workers to put their energy in something better than building cars... sorry if this sounds harsh but we should put our best effors in finding ways to make a living that do not contribute to the destruction of the environment, or else we are complicit with the crazy economy that is costing us the Earh and endangering the survival of all living species, including ours.

That is totally ridiculous, the loss of all these jobs is not going to stop enviromental destruction the cars will still be produced, what will happen is that 2300 worker will lose there jobs which will be devastating to them and their families aswell as the local economy, which will end up causing even more job losses. Get a grip on reality, these people need our support and solidarity.

that while we have been working to earn a living YOU and your "green" friends have been climbing down from what ever tree your trying to save that week and going straight to the dole office to claim money that people like us who are going to distroy the world by building cars have payed in tax and national insurance. If you feel that strongly about the enviroment then morally you and your oik should abandon claiming every penny that you can get out the the SS and live off the fat of the land and let the people like us who work hard for every penny we get have a pension that we can live on instead of being made to work till we are 70 to pay for you and your offspring.
