Manifesto of solidarity to Garotinho, in hunger strike, by mayors of Rio de Janeiro State, Brasil.

At this moment of much anguish and suffering, we mayors of the state of Rio de Janeiro, we want to reveal our integral solidarity to our candidate to the presidency of the Republic, Anthony Garotinho.
When deciding for the hunger strike, Garotinho sacrifices himself on behalf of the public morality, of the respect to the honor and the ethics, little remembered today in this country dominated for a perverse financial system that so much harms Brazilian people.
When denouncing the concentration each time bigger of the national wealth in the hands of financial agents, awaken Garotinho the anger of those who judge themselves powerful.
In exchange, he is now pursued day and night for the Organizations Globe with endorsement, it is very clear, of Lula's government. They publish pages and more pages of shamefull attacks in periodicals of Marinho family, and minutes and more minutes of baseless denunciations in the news at Globo television. Space to Garotinho's defense? A very small bit of a page and some seconds in the television.
That's what they offer to our candidate.
When growing in the electoral research, thanks to his nationalistic proposals, Garotinho has become a real threat to the ones that are accustomed to make what they understand and they enrich to the costs of the Brazilian Nation.
Our objective is not to make judgment and values about the extreme decision the former-governor took, but, yes, to recognize this act of largeness taken by the illustrious politician.
We are by the side of Garotinho in this different fight, and solidary with his familiar ones. We believe in Justice and in the sensitivity of the people of good of this country.
