Asylum Is Not A Crime – Indymedia/No Borders Film Night

IMCista | 28.04.2006 11:22 | April 2006 No Borders Days of Action | Migration | London

Did you know it is illegal for a UK citizen to marry a non-EU citizen without the approval of the Home Office?
Did you know that some asylum seekers in the UK have been detained for up to 3 years?

An evening of films including from Australia,
'Woomera Breakout'
A life affirming film that shows what happened when activists converged upon Woomera Detention Centre to protest the federal government's mandatory detention of refugees, and to assist in the mass break out of 50 refugees.

And UK Indymedia's very recent 'Harmondsworth, 8 April 2006'
Around 300 people from London, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Brighton, Reading and Cardiff demonstrated at the Harmondsworth and Colnbrook detention centres near Heathrow to ensure that "those inside will hear our voices and know that they are not alone."

there will also be some feedback about the hunger strike that took
place due to violent behavior by the guards against the detainees inside the detention centres.

Inn On The Green is situated underneath the A40 flyover at 3 Thorpe
Close, W10,
halfway between Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road, and is 2min from Ladbroke
Grove tube station.

Indymedia Cinema – how will you re-act?
