"We can all get some, and we can give some back"

This is the start of what will hopefully be a cooperative of musicians in Nottingham, the aim of which is to collaborate information on live music venues and the experience bands and artists have had playing them. This idea has been born out of the frustration of playing many a gig in often packed places, only to be offered a pittance in pay, or to find that the venue has no P.A. have not notified you, expect you to set up, and still pay you a piitance! (true story). It is also born out of the joy of playing a gig where everything is set up, the communication is good if stuff is needed, and the pay is fair, and you are treated like a human. This cooperative could also have the aim of promoting the fantastic wealth of talent that exists in Nottingham, for Artists to collaborate and put on their own gigs, maybe even festivals, bypassing middlemen who take a big slice of the pie that could be ours. We could forge alliances with with other people and groups who have talent and new spectrum to bring such as visuals and lighting people, artists and art studios, sound engineers, Poets, DJ's...etc. We could even get funding. I feel that with the state of things in Nottingham, the lack of decent promoters, that what's needed is an injection of DIY ethics to put this place on the map.
